Government Relations Associate - Phoenix Regional Office

Position Summary The Government Relations Associate will manage all government relations related activity in a multi-state region, communicating necessary public policy impacts and appropriately identifying potential risks to the region's business pipeline. Maintain professional relationships with region staff and company at-large to support Dominium's mission to build and preserve more affordable workforce and senior housing. Tasks include: In-region policy research and timely communication, advocacy of initiatives impacting the housing industry both in-region and federally, relationship management with key stakeholders, elected, and appointed office holders, potential business risk identification and communication, community outreach to support regional development projects, internal relationship management across multiple teams, and other duties as assigned. Essential Functions Tracks legislation and advocacy support through up to date monitoring of state/federal/local actions. Provides independent management of all government relations activities in a multi-state portfolio. Coalition building and appropriate support gathering for company initiatives and projects. Builds and manages key relationship in a multi-state/regional portfolio. Researches and communicates public policy initiatives impacting Dominium's business. Works cross-functionally between multiple different teams to support Dominium's policy goals and business initiative. Qualifications Bachelors degree in Government, Political Science, Legal Studies or related required. Masters or other related post-graduate degree preferred. At least 2-4 years of experience working with policy analysis, policy influence, and government relations. Experience with Microsoft Office, specifically Microsoft Excel, and experience with online state agency and government databases. Direct experience analyzing and/or influencing policy. Prior experience with impactful lobbying, coalition building, or campaign-related work, housing related a plus. Excellent verbal and written communication skills; and ability to quickly summarize and communicate complex information into layman's terms. Ability to appropriately and quickly analyze public policy and its potential impact on company activities and must be creative and resourceful in identifying problems and developing strategies and solutions to solve them. Ability to work and produce in a fast-paced environment; and demonstrated ability to organize and manage multiple projects and excellent time management skills. Experience networking and building coalitions in support of a mission. Excellent attention to detail, and ability to work with moderate independence. Ability to work with personnel at all levels of the corporation in a "team" environment to achieve optimal solutions to department challenges.
