Safety Specialist

Job Overview This position reports to the Environmental, Safety, Health, Quality and Training Manager in support of the Decontamination and Decommissioning (D&D) of facilities at the Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory and Kesselring Site, both located in upstate New York. This position requires the ability to write reports and procedures, computer skills, public speaking, participation in project meetings, teamwork, and excellent follow-through. Key Responsibilities / Accountabilities Implementation of EHS policies and procedures. Interpret and apply OSHA standards. Conduct EHS surveys and audits, maintain EHS documentation. Collect and analyze EHS metrics. Conduct accident investigations and participate in the safety committee. Provide safety field oversight of production personnel involved in radiological and RCRA D&D activities. Basic Qualifications Minimum five years of safety and industrial hygiene experience. Bachelor's degree in occupational safety, industrial engineering or related field required; working knowledge of OSHA Construction Industry standards. CSP, CIH, CHMM or equivalent certification preferred. Experience in construction, demolition, remediation, asbestos abatement, lead abatement, lifting & rigging, ergonomics, noise, scaffolding, air monitoring and industrial hygiene equipment. Prior experience in shipyard, DOE, or Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program strongly preferred. Experience in radiological and environmental decontamination and decommissioning fields a plus. U.S. Citizen; no dual citizenship. Ability to obtain and maintain Department of Energy Level L Security Clearance. Ability to obtain and maintain radiological qualifications. Ability to lift 50 pounds. Ability to pass and maintain a medical clearance for entry into radiological areas. Occasional overtime and travel may be required (infrequent). As of the date of this posting, a good faith estimate of the current pay range for this position is $45.00 - $55.75 per hour. Compensation depends on several factors including experience, education, key skills, geographic location, client requirements, external market competitiveness, and internal equity among other employees within APTIM.
