Job Title: Material Handler Job Description

This role supports the shipping and production operations by safely operating material handling equipment to receive, move, and deliver parts throughout the facility. The Material Handler ensures that materials are accurately picked according to work orders, delivered to the correct workstations, and that inventory is properly maintained and organized to keep production running smoothly.

• Operate material handling equipment such as sit-down fork trucks, order pickers, and pallet jacks to move items between receiving, storage, and production areas.
• Locate materials and supplies by pulling and verifying items listed on production and work orders.
• Pick and pack orders accurately according to order sheets and work orders.
• Deliver materials to designated workstations as requested and remove finished goods or scrap from production areas in a timely manner.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe warehouse and production support area, ensuring aisles are clear and materials are stored in designated locations.
• Maintain inventory by identifying, labeling, and keeping materials and supplies in stock, recording inventory locations, and reporting shortages or discrepancies.
• Perform daily maintenance checks on fork trucks and other equipment, including completing end-of-shift requirements such as 5S checklists and charging equipment.
• Strictly adhere to all facility safety protocols, including wearing required PPE and following safe lifting and equipment operation guidelines.
• Collaborate with team members to identify process improvements and increase efficiency in material flow and inventory handling.
• Assist with other shipping, receiving, and packaging activities as needed to support overall department operations.

• Material handling experience within a manufacturing environment, including moving materials from warehouse stocking areas to assembly and production areas.
• Hands-on experience working with work orders and order sheets, including picking and packing orders accurately.
• Proven attention to detail in inventory handling, counting, and verifying materials.
• Forklift operating experience, ideally including stand-up forklift operation.
• Ability to safely operate sit-down fork trucks, order pickers, and pallet jacks.
• Commitment to following safety procedures and wearing required personal protective equipment.
• Reliability to work a consistent first-shift schedule Monday through Friday.

• Comfort working in a large manufacturing environment with active production and material flow.
• Experience maintaining organized storage areas and applying basic 5S or similar housekeeping practices.
• Strong communication skills to coordinate with production, shipping, and receiving teams.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
• Steel-toed boots or shoes, suitable for a manufacturing and warehouse setting.

Employees work in a clean, well-organized manufacturing environment with a stable first-shift schedule and very limited overtime, supporting a predictable work-life balance. The facility promotes safety, teamwork, and continuous improvement, offering the opportunity to contribute directly to efficient production operations while developing skills with a variety of material handling equipment.

The role is based in a large, clean, well-lit manufacturing facility with climate-controlled conditions. Work is performed primarily in warehouse, shipping, and production support areas, involving regular use of sit-down fork trucks, stand-up forklifts, order pickers, and pallet jacks. The standard schedule is first shift, Monday through Friday, typically 6:00 AM to 3:00 PM, with flexibility to work 6:00 AM to 2:00 PM or 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Overtime is very limited. The environment emphasizes safety and organization, and steel-toed boots or shoes are required attire.

This is a Contract position based out of Livonia, MI.

The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $23.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.

This is a fully onsite position in Livonia,MI.
