Assistant Coach - JV Girls Lacrosse at Patrick Henry High School

General Description Position is responsible for providing leadership, supervision, and coaching instruction at a large public high school. Responsibilities may include supervising teams at varsity and junior varsity levels. Essential Duties Assist with planning practices, running practices, and coaching during practices and games under the direction of the Head Coach. Communicate expectations to parents and players. Ensure there are always two coaches on the field. Attend all practices and games. Arrange for practices/game coverage if unable to attend. Start and end practices on time. You and other designated coach are always the last to leave the field. Adhere to school board requirements and recommendations. Attend all coaches’ meetings. Assist with player selection. Supervise the team during all activities. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities In‑depth knowledge and advanced strategies of applicable sport. Knowledge of VHSL rules. Strong organizational and communication skills. Ability to mentor and develop players in a positive way. Desire to teach and improve skill development. Must pass criminal record check. Education and Experience Required: Previous experience as a player and/or coaching at the high school level. Preferred: Valid teaching license in a high school curriculum area. A comparable amount of training and experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications. Work Schedule and Compensation Work Schedule: Spring Sports – February 23, 2026 thru June 2, 2026. Pay Grade: 6. Salary Scale: Activities Stipend List. Physical Conditions Requires moderate physical activity, standing and/or walking for extended periods, and outdoor work. Potential exposure to adverse weather, blood‑borne pathogens, communicable diseases, disruptive individuals, extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, loud noise and field maintenance equipment. Minimum exposure to physical risk.
