Job Summary:


The Registered Nurse in the ICU is responsible for providing skilled nursing care to critically ill patients within an acute care hospital setting. This role involves patient assessments, medication administration, treatment planning, and collaboration with interdisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes. The nurse will adapt to working in fast-paced and dynamic environments, including floating between units as needed, and will maintain compliance with all clinical and safety standards. A minimum of two years of experience and certifications in ACLS and BLS are required.

Responsibilities:

• Perform comprehensive patient assessments and monitor patient conditions in the ICU and related units.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians.
• Develop and implement individualized nursing care plans.
• Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate patient care.
• Respond promptly to emergencies and provide critical care interventions.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation using Epic charting system.
• Float between ICU and other like units as required to meet staffing needs.
• Participate in weekend shifts every other weekend to ensure continuous patient care.
• Adhere to infection control and safety protocols within the acute care environment.

Required Skills & Certifications:

• Active Registered Nurse license in the state of employment.
• Minimum of two years of nursing experience, preferably in trauma or critical care settings.
• Current ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification.
• Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification.
• Proficiency in clinical assessment, medication administration, and treatment planning.
• Experience with Epic electronic medical record charting system.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

• Experience in trauma level II or higher facilities.
• Previous experience floating between ICU and other critical care units.
• Strong interdisciplinary team collaboration skills.

Special Considerations:

• Weekend work required every other weekend.
• No on-call responsibilities.
• Floating between ICU and similar units is expected.
• Block scheduling accommodations are possible.
• Registered Nurse scrub colors are royal blue or navy blue.
• Free parking available on site.

Scheduling:

• Shift schedules include weekend rotations every other weekend.
• Work schedule may include block shifts based on facility needs.
• Guaranteed hours with allowance for one call-off per two-week pay period.
