Backend Engineer

Build scalable backend systems that support the training and evaluation of next-generation AI models. Your real-world engineering expertise will help improve how these systems learn, reason, and perform. Prior AI experience is not required.

• Design, develop, and maintain high-performance backend services and APIs.
• Translate business needs into technical specifications and effective backend solutions in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
• Improve system reliability, security, and efficiency to support seamless user experiences.
• Write clean, documented, thoroughly tested code that follows engineering best practices.
• Participate in code reviews, mentoring, and knowledge-sharing sessions.
• Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve production backend issues, addressing root causes and driving continuous improvement.
• Contribute ideas and technical judgment to architecture discussions and decisions.

• At least 1 year of proven backend development experience using modern programming languages.
• Experience designing and implementing RESTful APIs and microservices architectures.
• Strong knowledge of relational and NoSQL databases and data modeling principles.
• Understanding of security, authentication, and authorization best practices.
• Experience with AWS, GCP, or Azure, plus containerization tools such as Docker and Kubernetes.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and a collaborative, proactive working style.
• Ability to succeed in a fast-paced, fully remote team environment.

• Familiarity with event-driven or serverless architectures.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automated testing frameworks.
• Experience mentoring engineers or providing technical leadership on backend teams.

• Remote contract engagement.

• $60 to $110 per hour.
