Responsible for the planning, delivery and management of direct patient care utilizing the nursing process, and adhering to the standards of nursing practice.

I. Major Responsibilities:

• Utilizes the nursing process for the delivery and management of patient's care from admission to discharge, appropriate to the developmental age and cultural diversity of the patient population.
• Performs patient assessment/reassessment according to nursing standards.
• Develops and coordinates individual plan of care including discharge planning and teaching.
• Directs, supervises, coordinates and evaluates nursing care within assigned clinical setting.
• Delegates appropriately to others in accordance with job description and competency level.

II. Position Qualifications:

License/Certification/Education:

• Required: 1. Currently registered by the Board of Registration in Nursing for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. 2. BLS is a requirement for every RN unless an advance certification is current (ex ACLS, PALS, NRP). In addition, unit specific certification and competencies are defined in the Unit Profile. Preferred: 1. BSN. 2. GI certification.

Experience/Skills:

• Required: 1. Strong interpersonal skills are required to gather information, build relationships that support collaborative work in the department and across the organization while providing exceptional service to patients.
