About the Agency Murdoch Developmental Center (MDC) is one of three regional developmental centers operated by the Division of State Operated Healthcare Facilities (DSOHF). Located in Butner, North Carolina, MDC serves 25 counties, providing residential services and supports for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, complex behavioral challenges, and medical conditions requiring care beyond community levels. Job Summary Registered Nurse (S). The primary purpose of this position is to provide professional nursing care, including evaluation, assessment, and coordination of patient care. When assigned, the RN acts as charge nurse, providing clinical services, medication and treatment administration, and care planning in collaboration with medical professionals. Responsibilities Provide professional nursing care through evaluation, assessment, and coordination of patient care. Act as charge nurse when assigned, overseeing patient care during assigned shifts. Administer medications and treatments accurately and safely. Collaborate with doctors, other nurses, and support staff to develop and implement care plans. Ensure preparedness for adverse weather and emergency events; all employees are designated as essential. Qualifications Licensed Registered Nurse in the State of North Carolina or a participating Nurse Licensure Compact state. Pass Healthcare Provider CPR and Non‑Violent Crisis Intervention written and physical assessments as a condition of employment. Valid driver’s license. Preferred: experience in developmental or behavioral health settings. Salary & Benefits Recruitment range: $70,000.00 – $85,000.00. A sign‑on bonus of up to $10,000 may be offered contingent on budget approval and eligibility requirements. Work Schedule and Shift Premiums 3rd Shift: 10:45 pm–6:45 am, 5 days/week, rotating weekends. Other shift options: 6:30 pm–7 am; 8:30 pm–7 am; 10:45 pm–6:45 am (8 hour); 8:15 pm–6:45 am (10 hour); 6:15 pm–6:45 am (12 hour, 36/48 alternating weeks). Shift premiums: 1st shift 10% weekend only; 2nd shift 15% weekday & 25% weekend; 3rd shift 20% weekday & 30% weekend. Minimum Education and Experience Licensed Registered Nurse in North Carolina.
