Position Overview

This position is responsible for providing counseling to students by appraising their interests, aptitudes, and abilities to develop a career path and degree fit. This role typically provides supervision to lower level staff directly or on a project basis but may serve as an expert or point of escalation for more complex projects or issues. Counsels students on academic pursuits through the completion of degree program; connects students with available resources for academic success and personal/professional development; researches and evaluates and delivers presentations on services provided. This position is responsible for creating and implementing programs related to student success and retention.

Minimum Qualifications

Master's degree and four years of experience in student affairs, student services, counseling, professional academic advising, or related experience.

  rapidly assimilate).

Job Duties

• Student Service and Communication Provide high-quality student service related to advising appointments and communication
• Paperwork and Processes Completion of advising-related paperwork and processes in timely and accurate manner. Ex: degree audits, graduation applications, etc.
• Professional Development Complete a minimum of two professional development trainings that are meaningful to the job/level.
• Leadership Manages assigned leadership duties, providing clear and consistent communication as needed related to their specific individually assigned responsibility. Typically related to events, role, assignments, resources or specific student populations. Meets all established deadlines and completes work with a 90% accuracy rate, evaluation of leadership duties will occur on a quarterly basis.
• Supervision Coach and support direct reports resulting in the attainment of all performance goals competencies, and values giving meaningful feedback and fair evaluations. Meet with staff on a regular (at least monthly) basis for individual employee coaching sessions and quarterly check-ins.

• Communicating with others to exchange information.
• Moving self in various positions to perform tasks in tight and confined spaces.
• Sedentary work that primarily involves sitting/standing.
• Moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another.
• Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers.
