OVERVIEW 

Job Title : Buyer

Reports to : VP of Supply Chain

Department: Purchasing

Direct Reports: None

Location : Lynbrook, NY

FLSA Category : Non-Exempt

Compensation/Salary : D.O.E.

 

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES  

• Send out quote requests from multiple vendors to price each job for fixture package purchases.
• Analyze bid leveling and negotiate with vendors to reach buy pricing.
• Place purchase orders with vendors; buy change orders.
• Coordinating with other departments to execute change orders; sourcing materials as needed.
• Maintain information and communication in system databases for purchasing.
• Specify and obtain submittals for alternate items when needed.
• Search out new vendors to expand our logistics and supply chain options.
• Meet with vendors to maintain relationships and obtain desirable terms and arrangements.
• Coordinate material in the field; trouble shooting deliveries, address any and all QA issues and material count discrepancies.
• Set up delivery of material as requested; maintain daily delivery schedule
• Help accounting resolve payable discrepancies; invoice verification 

REQUIREMENTS  

• Minimum of a Highschool Diploma
• Experience in inside sales and plumbing distribution is highly desired
• Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
• Must be a self-starter, pay attention to detail, and utilize effective organizational skills including the ability to multitask and complete tasks quickly and efficiently
• Intermediate in Microsoft Excel (i.e. sorting, filtering, pivot tables etc.), Microsoft Outlook, and the internet
• Must be able to display effective problem solving techniques and have the ability to remain calm in a high-volume and demanding environment
• Mathematically literate ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals; ability to compute various rates, ratios, and percentages
• Relevant construction/mechanical and/or trade experience is desired but not required
