Shift: First Shift (United States of America) About the Role The Department of Pediatrics at Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Pediatric Palliative Care Physician to join our multidisciplinary pediatric oncology and hematology team. This role offers the opportunity to provide deeply meaningful, patient- and family-centered care to children and adolescents facing cancer, complex hematologic disorders such as sickle cell disease, and other life-limiting illnesses. The successful candidate will work collaboratively across pediatric oncology, hematology, psychosocial support, integrative medicine, and supportive care services to ensure patients and families receive comprehensive support throughout every stage of their healthcare journey. This position is ideal for pediatricians with a strong interest in symptom management, pain management, quality of life care, and end-of-life care for pediatric hematology/oncology patients, as well as physicians formally trained in pediatric palliative care. What You’ll Do Deliver high-quality pediatric palliative care services across inpatient and outpatient settings Provide comprehensive symptom management, pain management, and supportive care for children and adolescents with cancer and complex hematologic conditions Support patients with serious illness through individualized, compassionate, and developmentally appropriate care planning Assist with advance care planning and goals-of-care discussions with patients and families Conduct family meetings focused on treatment options, quality of life, symptom management, and supportive decision-making Collaborate closely with pediatric hematologists, oncologists, advanced practice providers, nurses, psychologists, social workers, child life specialists, integrative medicine practitioners, and supportive care teams Participate in multidisciplinary care planning to support the emotional, physical, psychosocial, and spiritual needs of patients and families Foster continuity of care across inpatient, outpatient, and supportive care environments Support a compassionate, family-centered approach to serious illness care Contribute to educational initiatives involving trainees, students, residents, fellows, and interdisciplinary team members Support the continued growth and development of pediatric palliative care services within the institution Participate in quality improvement and patient-centered care initiatives Foster a culture aligned with High Reliability Organization principles emphasizing compassion, communication, safety, and teamwork Qualifications Required Education and Experience: MD, DO, or equivalent degree with training in Pediatrics, Pediatric Hematology/Oncology, Pediatric Palliative Care, or a related specialty License or permit to practice as a Medical Doctor in the State of New York Possession of or eligibility for a valid medical specialty certificate in Pediatrics Prior full-time experience in the field of Pediatrics Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to support patients and families through complex medical experiences Commitment to holistic, compassionate, and developmentally appropriate care for patients and families Preferred Qualifications: Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) degree Board certification or eligibility in Pediatrics Valid medical license to practice in New York Experience in pediatric palliative care Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a compassionate approach to care Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, multidisciplinary team environment Equal Employment Opportunity Statement Roswell Park Cancer Institute Corporation (RPCIC) and Health Research Inc.
