About the Position

TravelNurseSource is working with Medical Edge Recruitment to find a qualified PACU/Pre-Post Op RN in Shreveport, Louisiana, 71103!

Travel Registered Nurse (RN) – PACU (Post-Anesthesia Care Unit)

Traveler Requirement: Candidates MUST  reside 65 miles or more from the facility to qualify for this travel assignment.

Compensation & Schedule

  • Weekly Gross Pay: Up to $2,280
  • Hourly Rate: $27/hour
  • Overtime Rate: $45/hour
  • Weekly Non-Taxed Stipend: $1,200 (for qualified travelers)
  • Shift: 12:00 PM – 8:30 PM
  • Contract Length: 13 Weeks

Position Overview

Medical Edge Recruitment is seeking an experienced PACU Registered Nurse (RN) for an exciting travel assignment. In this role, you will provide exceptional post-anesthesia care, monitoring patients as they recover from surgical procedures and ensuring safe transitions through the recovery process. You will collaborate closely with physicians, anesthesia providers, and interdisciplinary healthcare teams to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care in a fast-paced clinical environment.

This opportunity is ideal for nurses who excel in critical thinking, patient assessment, and delivering compassionate care while maintaining the highest standards of safety and professionalism.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and assess patients recovering from anesthesia and surgical procedures
  • Recognize and respond to changes in patient condition
  • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed
  • Manage pain control and post-operative recovery needs
  • Educate patients and families regarding recovery expectations and discharge instructions
  • Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and healthcare team members to ensure optimal patient outcomes
  • Maintain accurate and timely electronic medical records
  • Adhere to all facility policies, regulatory standards, and patient safety protocols

Qualifications

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice
  • Minimum of 2 years of recent PACU, critical care, or related nursing experience
  • Current BLS Certification (American Heart Association)
  • Current ACLS Certification (American Heart Association)
  • Current PALS Certification (American Heart Association)
  • Strong patient assessment and clinical decision-making skills
  • Experience with electronic charting systems and web-based applications
  • Excellent communication, organization, and time-management skills
  • Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
  • Previous travel nursing experience
  • Specialty certifications related to perioperative or critical care nursing

Additional Requirements

  • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting and assisting patients
  • Comfortable working in environments with exposure to blood, bodily fluids, and communicable diseases
  • Ability to work safely around hazardous medications and medical waste
  • Must maintain all required licenses and certifications without restrictions
