About the Position

Job Title: Emergency Department Registered Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Emergency Room Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: 2 years minimum required; Level 1 trauma experience preferred License: New Mexico license can be pending at the time of submission Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIH, PALS, TNCC (must have TNCC prior to signing) Must-Have: Trauma/resuscitation experience preferred; Travel experience strongly preferred Description: Travelers should expect their assignments to include and may consist primarily of admitted patients. Approximately 60%-80% of the Emergency Department is admitted. Many of the Emergency Department rooms are devoted to patient holding. Medication administration, including IV medication via the seven medication rights, is required. Documentation and communication of clinical findings is essential. The nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:5. Weekend scheduling is required based on staffing needs. Travelers will be scheduled for weekends as needed. Weekend days include Saturday and Sunday; weekend nights include Friday through Sunday. Floating to pediatric Emergency Department is optional. Floating to adult patient care units is an expectation based on staffing needs. Floating may also include ED Holding and Trauma as needed. Familiarity with bar code medication scanning is expected. Patient Age Groups include adolescents, adults, and geriatrics. The daily census is between 170-200 patients. The Emergency Department has 53 rooms and 68 beds. Interdisciplinary support includes respiratory services, interpretation services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, pharmacy, and transportation. Travelers without specific certifications may be required to pass in-person training during orientation week. A maximum of 7 days of time-off is preferred. No time-off during the first 7 days of the contract or the last day of the contract. Locals are not accepted within a 100-mile radius. Drivers’ licenses must be provided for non-locals.
