Developer - Power BI

Genesis10 is currently seeking a Developer - Power BI- Hybrid position with a Major Financial Institution located in Jersey City, NJ. This is a 6 month contract opportunity.

We are seeking a skilled Power BI Developer to build and deliver dashboards and reports using data sourced from an Azure Databricks Lakehouse. This hands-on development role involves creating stakeholder-specific dashboards, ensuring data accuracy, and working closely with data engineering and business teams to produce high-quality visualizations.

Responsibilities:

• Design and develop interactive Power BI reports and dashboards
• Build Cyber Dashboards aligned to individual source systems
• Implement drill-downs, drill-throughs, slicers, and advanced visualizations
• Connect Power BI to Databricks SQL endpoints and Unity Catalog tables
• Develop and maintain Power BI data models (star schema, relationships)
• Create DAX measures, calculated columns, and KPIs
• Use Power Query (M language) to clean, shape, and transform incoming data
• Implement row-level security (RLS) for user-based access
• Optimize report performance through efficient DAX, model optimization, and dataset tuning
• Work with business users to understand reporting requirements and translate them into dashboard solutions

Requirements:

• 5+ years of experience in Power BI development
• Strong hands-on experience with Power BI Desktop and Service, DAX, and Power Query (M)
• Proficiency in data modeling (star schema, relationships)
• Experience integrating Power BI with Azure Databricks
• Strong SQL skills and understanding of data transformation concepts
• Experience implementing row-level security (RLS)
• Only candidates available and ready to work directly as Genesis10 employees will be considered for this position.

Desired skills:

• Experience working with Databricks Lakehouse / Unity Catalog
• Exposure to financial services or cybersecurity data/reporting
• Experience building dashboards across multiple data domains/source systems
• Familiarity with Azure tools (ADF, ADLS, Entra ID)
• Experience supporting large-scale enterprise reporting environments
• Exposure to dashboard performance tuning and enabling self-service reporting

Pay range: Up to $62.98 per hour
