The Corporate Counsel will work on a variety of the company’s legal matters primarily focused on labor and employment matters (including organizational support and guidance, as well as active litigation), with progressively wider practice area opportunities including developing and reviewing company policies, procedures and training, contract review, data protection and privacy, and more. The candidate should be an energetic self-starter who is willing to take on projects and can work under pressure within a fast-paced environment, is comfortable managing multiple matters concurrently with competing deadlines, and is able to maintain productive relationships with management and the C-Suite. The Company provides an unparalleled in-store experience, coupled with online reservations and in-store express pickup.Each day, Jushi team members continue to grow, cultivate, process and manufacture a comprehensive suite of cannabis brands under the names: The Bank, The Lab, Tasteology, Nira + Medicinals and Sèche, which are addressing a wide variety of consumer and patient needs across multiple states.WHAT YOU WILL DOWork closely with human resources personnel in providing efficient and succinct advice and counsel on a variety of labor and employment matters including but not limited to ADA, FMLA, FLSA, workers compensation, discipline and terminations, union affairs, I-9 compliance and OSHA complaints and investigationsOrganize and participate in labor negotiations, and provide advice and counsel and training regarding CBAs and other union mattersDraft, update and maintain employment agreements for the company including but not limited to executive employment agreements, stock and option agreements, severance agreements and proprietary rights agreementsWork closely with Jushi’s securities team to ensure timely and accurate SEC, CSE and other regulatory filings regarding executive compensation and equity.Manage litigation, including issuing preservation notices and holds, directing discovery matters, responding to document requests, and calendaringProvide legal support to IT (and the business generally as needed) with regard to cybersecurity, data protection, litigation holds, records management and HIPAADevelop, gain approval for, promulgate, and enforce appropriate company policies and processes to ensure compliance with laws and regulations applicable to its businessProvide accurate, cost-effective and timely legal support to the organization including managing risks, conducting investigations and resolving pre-litigation disputes in-houseResearch legal issues impacting the organization by identifying applicable statutes, judicial decisions, and codesResponsible for reviewing, drafting, and negotiating contracts and the contract review process, including NDAs, service agreements, vendor and supply agreements, subcontracts, purchase agreements, and financing documentsCollaborate with, and closely and efficiently manage outside legal counsel and outside vendors in various legal mattersOther tasks, including administrative, that may be assignedWHAT WE ARE LOOKING FORJuris Doctorate from an accredited law schoolActive Florida bar license, or ability to obtain authorized house counsel5+ years of professional experience as a lawyer, with at least 3+ years related to litigation, labor and employment litigation preferredWell-rounded in-house counsel experience with working directly with business decisionmakersImpeccable attention to detail and pride in one’s work productExcellent communication skills, with the ability to translate complex legal concepts into actionable business terms to elicit well-informed business decisionsComfortable spotting issues and escalating to the team when necessaryOutstanding writing, research, negotiating, interpersonal, and organizational skillsAdept at technical tools, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint/Keynote, AI and document sharing and e-signing toolsComfortable working in a fast-paced, challenging environmentNot above performing administrative tasks relating to legal or compliance assignments as neededWHAT WE HAVE TO OFFER OUR EMPLOYEES AT JUSHI:We offer benefit packages that may include: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life, Short, and Long Term Disability, Flexible Spending Accounts, Paid Time Off, Paid Holidays, and 401(k).BONUS DUTIES YOU SHOULD UNDERSTAND:Please note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties, or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job.
