Buonora Child Development Centers is currently seeking a joyful, organized, and collaborative Early Intervention Class Co-Lead Teacher to join our Early Childhood Education team. The ideal candidate will help lead developmentally appropriate, play-based, and relationship-building learning experiences for young children with developmental delays, disabilities, or other identified needs in a supportive group classroom setting.
This position requires a candidate who is nurturing, flexible, organized, and skilled at supporting children’s social-emotional, communication, motor, cognitive, adaptive, and play development. The Early Intervention Class Co-Lead Teacher will share classroom leadership responsibilities with the lead teacher and collaborate with families, classroom staff, service providers, and program leadership to help create an inclusive, safe, and engaging learning environment aligned with each child’s developmental goals.
General Duties and Responsibilities:
- Co-lead early intervention group classes for children from birth to three years old in collaboration with the lead teacher and program team.
- Support administrative classroom duties, including lesson planning, curriculum development, progress report writing, and timely progress report submission.
- Plan and implement developmentally appropriate activities that promote communication, social-emotional development, motor skills, cognition, adaptive skills, sensory regulation, and play.
- Help prepare and adapt classroom routines, materials, and activities to meet each child’s individual strengths, developmental needs, and IFSP-related goals when applicable.
- Help maintain a safe, inclusive, nurturing, and well-organized classroom environment that encourages exploration, peer interaction, and independence.
- Use positive behavior supports, responsive caregiving, and appropriate adult-child interaction strategies throughout the day.
- Participate in child observations, progress documentation, and communication of relevant developmental information to supervisors, families, and service providers.
- Collaborate with families, early intervention specialists, therapists, regional center representatives, and classroom staff to support coordinated services.
- Assist with daily caregiving routines, including feeding, handwashing, transitions, and rest as appropriate.
- Prepare classroom materials, maintain records, and support compliance with licensing, program, and confidentiality requirements.
- Provide classroom coverage and support other program needs as assigned.
Job Skills and Requirements :
- Warm, nurturing, patient, and responsive approach to working with young children and families.
- Knowledge of early childhood development, developmental delays, inclusive classroom practices, and developmentally appropriate activities.
- Ability to help lead individualized activities and classroom strategies based on children’s abilities, interests, developmental goals, and family priorities.
- Strong teamwork skills and ability to share classroom responsibilities, accept feedback, and communicate effectively with the lead teacher and classroom team.
- Ability to support lesson planning, curriculum development, documentation, and progress report writing/submission.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate respectfully with families, colleagues, supervisors, and outside providers.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and demonstrate professionalism in all interactions.
- Demonstrates flexibility and creativity when responding to changing classroom needs.
- Works collaboratively as part of an interdisciplinary and classroom team.
- Comfortable supporting children with a range of developmental, sensory, behavioral, communication, and mobility needs.
- Spanish-speaking applicants preferred but not required.
- Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite and electronic documentation systems as required.
- Morning, mid-day, and afternoon availability; occasional evening availability preferred.
Required Educational and Field Experience:
- Minimum of 12 college units in Child Development, Early Childhood Education, Special Education, or a closely related field; additional infant/toddler or early intervention coursework preferred.
- Specific coursework in child growth and development , curriculum/program planning , child/family/community , infant/toddler development , early intervention , and programs for children with special needs - preferred.
- Experience in early childhood, infant/toddler, preschool, special education, or early intervention classroom
- Experience with lesson planning, curriculum support, classroom documentation, or progress report writing - preferred.
Minimum Physical Requirements:
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, run, crouch, kneel, crawl, bend, reach, and lift up to 50 pounds as needed to safely support young children.
- Ability to actively participate in floor-based play, outdoor activities, transitions, and caregiving routines.
Additional Requirements
- Pass a criminal background check, including fingerprint/live scan screening and child abuse index clearance.
- Complete TB clearance and health screening requirements.
- Maintain all required immunizations.
- Complete Mandated Reporter Training for childcare providers.
- Maintain current pediatric CPR and First Aid certification.
- Provide valid identification, Social Security card, and any other employment documents required by the program.
