Counselor III - CADC/LPC/LSW

Overview The Counselor III – CADC, LSW or LPC position is a member of the Substance Abuse Program that provides direct care to clients in the Methadone maintenance program. A CADC/LSW/LPC certification or license is required for this position. Responsibilities Evaluate and assess clients to determine the appropriate level of care and develop treatment plans. Conduct individual, group, and family counseling sessions. Provide case management, outreach, education, monitoring, referral, liaison, follow‑ups, and documentation. Maintain regular contact with an active caseload. Consult with supervisors regarding transfer or placement of clients to different service levels. Collaborate with the treatment team to develop, review, and update treatment goals and external referrals. Assist clients in obtaining public entitlements, housing, and community resources. Participate in staffing with Court Services, schools, agencies, and other stakeholders as needed. Organize and attend treatment‑related clinical conferences and staffing on assigned clients. Focus on client empowerment and evidence‑based practices to build on client strengths. Conduct crisis intervention, evaluation, and referral for clients presenting to the program. Perform initial evaluations and assessments of potential clients for program participation. Provide education and direction to clients, family members, and significant others. Maintain training and document clinical chart requirements to meet program and state standards. Assist in facilitating transportation for clients. Qualifications Associate’s degree and five (5) years of experience in behavioral sciences. Bachelor’s degree and three (3) years of experience in behavioral sciences. Bachelor’s degree in a related field and one (1) year of experience in behavioral sciences. Master’s degree in behavioral sciences and no required experience. Valid driver’s license. A CADC/LSW/LPC certification or license is required for this position. Clinical Certification Requirements Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC) from the Illinois Alcoholism and Other Drug Abuse Professional Certification Association (IAODAPCA). LPC or LCPC licensed professional counselor under the Professional Counselor and Clinical Professional Counselor Licensing Act. Physician licensed to practice medicine in all branches under the Medical Practice Act. Psychologist licensed under the Clinical Psychology Practice Act. LSW or LCSW licensed social worker under the Clinical Social Work and Social Work Practice Act. Eligibility and Other Requirements Must reside in Illinois or Wisconsin to be eligible for employment. Must possess a valid driver’s license. New staff who do not meet the above requirements must meet them within two years after hiring in the substance use disorder field.
