Respiratory Therapist

This is a 13-week contract position.

Night shift: 3x12.0 hours.

The Respiratory Therapist provides quality patient care by delivering intensive respiratory care and supporting patient transport as medically prescribed. The role involves evaluating patients, recommending treatment plans, and educating them about treatment procedures, tests, and equipment upon discharge.

Responsibilities:

• Conduct physician-prescribed respiratory treatments and operate various ventilatory equipment.
• Administer medications, humidification, ventilation, and oxygenation to the patient through multiple devices.
• Perform chest physiotherapy to promote secretion clearance.
• Execute suctioning of the patient by oropharyngeal, nasal, and tracheal methods.
• Monitor oximetry and capnography according to policy guidelines.
• Review patients' chest x-rays to determine necessary evaluations.
• Conduct 12-Lead EKG and recognize basic arrhythmias.
• Assist with respiratory care-related procedures such as Bronchoscopy and Chest Tube placement.
• Carry out tracheostomy care and the insertion/removal of tracheostomy tubes.
• Perform arterial puncture and assess ventilation efficiency.
• Follow all laboratory testing policies related to specimen handling and quality controls.
• Administer cardiopulmonary resuscitation per BLS and ACLS guidelines.
• Maintain and operate mechanical ventilation equipment, ensuring preventative maintenance.
• Document all treatments and patient responses on relevant records and charts.
• Communicate effectively with attending physicians regarding therapy efficiency.
• Ensure accurate charging for respiratory therapy services.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure:

Current Respiratory Therapist licensure is required. Previous experience in a similar role is preferred.
