Job Description:\n\nQuality Assurance Specialist Position Description Position: Quality Assurance Specialist – Project Based Report to: General Superintendent Job Description Overview The Quality Assurance Specialist / Site Manager is responsible for providing on-site field leadership, quality assurance oversight, and real-time technical guidance on assigned civil, industrial, petrochemical, and concrete construction projects. This role supports successful project execution by reviewing plans and specifications, maintaining quality control checks, coordinating daily field activities, educating craft workers on proper installation procedures, and helping crews perform work safely, efficiently, and in accordance with Kwest standards and client expectations. The position is field-based and may be assigned to a single project and/or multiple projects as workload determines. The team member must be able to work on active construction sites in hot, cold, wet, dusty, noisy, and other outdoor environments. The role requires strong communication, technical construction knowledge, and the physical capability to demonstrate, train, inspect, and verify field work as needed. Salary: $100,000 ResponsibilitiesEnsure adherence to safe work practices, Kwest safety procedures, client requirements, and applicable standard operating procedures.Provide real-time quality assurance, technical advice, constructability input, and field oversight to support successful project execution.Perform regular project site walk-throughs, inspections, and quality control checks to identify risks, document deficiencies, and communicate gaps in quality, safety, schedule, or technical execution.Review and understand plans, specifications, addenda, drawings, RFIs, submittals, schedules, and other project documents.Participate in regular meetings with site managers, project managers, senior project managers, general superintendents, clients, and field teams to promote best practices, resolve issues, and communicate project status.Train, educate, guide, teach, and show craft workers proper installation procedures and effective means and methods for completing work safely, efficiently, and to required quality standards.Support, manage, and direct assigned crews as required to execute daily and future work activities.Develop, coordinate, and execute field work plans for crews to support project completion, production goals, safety requirements, and quality expectations.Ensure assigned crews complete daily job reports, production tracking, crew hour tracking, equipment hour tracking, SLAM books, Task Hazard Analysis forms, daily safety briefings, pre-work stretching, equipment inspections, and other required documentation.Ensure craft workers are operating heavy construction equipment safely and efficiently.Ensure crews can install sitework scopes, including water, storm sewer, sewer pipe, associated structures, grading, layout, and related civil construction activities, safely and efficiently.Provide extensive concrete knowledge and field oversight for forming, rebar, anchor bolts, critical embedded items, walls, footings, mass foundations, horizontal and vertical concrete structures, elevated decks with shoring, concrete placement, finishing, curing, protection, and post-pour review.Complete and/or support required electronic quality forms and documentation, including concrete pre-pour and post-pour forms, inspection reports, site reports, and other project records.Maintain quality control checks and verify work is installed in accordance with plans, specifications, tolerances, client requirements, and Kwest practices.Use and/or support field layout and grade-control activities, including transits, builder's levels, grade lasers, and related survey tools; GPS and total station experience are beneficial.Use company-provided technology, including iPads, laptops, cell phones, and project management software, to communicate, complete reports, track work, and maintain accurate records.Support use of HCSS Heavy Job or similar software as needed; HCSS experience is beneficial but not required.Liaise with clients and project stakeholders, report progress, help resolve day-to-day issues, and represent Kwest Group professionally.Monitor project progress, field productivity, quality issues, materials, equipment, costs, and constraints; communicate needs and concerns to project leadership.Assist with buying or coordinating materials for project phases as assigned.Check and prepare site reports, designs, drawings, and other field documentation as required.Enforce adherence to current Kwest practices, standard operating procedures, documentation standards, and clear recordkeeping for equipment operation, process instructions, field data, and quality activities.Schedule and complete assigned duties with minimal direct supervision.Conduct interviews and provide hiring, promotion, disciplinary, and/or termination recommendations for crew members as assigned.Represent Kwest Group in a professional manner in all instances.Perform all duties consistent with Kwest Group's Mission Statement and philosophy.Maintain a positive attitude and good working relationships with customers, clients, team members, craft workers, and the public.Developing, implementing, and enforcing Site-Specific Quality Plans and Inspections/Testing plansPreparing daily quality control reports, maintaining submittal registers, and managing project-wide documentation to ensure accuracy from preconstruction through close outIdentifying non-compliant materials or workmanship, tracking deficiencies, and implementing timely corrective actions.Conducting daily, preparatory, and follow-up inspections on the jobsite(s). Documenting all completed work and managing designated “hold points”. Education and QualificationsA high school diploma, GED, or trade school certificate is preferred.15 years of work experience as a Quality Assurance Specialist, Site Manager, Superintendent, Foreman, Concrete Superintendent, or similar field leadership/quality role is preferred.Extensive knowledge of concrete construction, including forming, rebar, anchor bolts, critical embedded items, walls, footings, mass foundations, elevated decks with shoring, concrete placement, finishing, curing, and quality inspection.Good knowledge of sitework, grading, underground utilities, pipe installation, structures, civil construction sequencing, and construction site safety.Extremely proficient with transits, builder's levels, grade lasers, and field layout fundamentals. GPS and total station experience are not required but are beneficial.HCSS Heavy Job experience is not required but is beneficial.Proficient with electronics and company technology, including iPads, laptops, cell phones, and electronic forms.Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.Capable of accurately completing electronic forms and field documentation, including concrete pre-pour and post-pour forms, daily reports, inspection forms, and quality records.Ability to read, understand, and interpret DOT-style plans, specifications, drawings, addenda, schedules, and step-by-step action plans.Strong technical, organizational, multitasking, time-management, communication, and problem-solving skills.Must be a great communicator and capable of training, educating, guiding, and correcting craft workers in a clear, respectful, and effective manner.Must be physically capable of performing construction activities for training purposes and completing inspection duties in the field.Possess personal qualities of integrity, credibility, accountability, sound judgment, and commitment to the corporate mission and values.Valid state driver's license and must be qualified to operate a vehicle under the conditions of the Company's driving policy.Valid CDL or Class B CDL is preferred when required by project duties.Clean driving record.Working knowledge of construction site safety, truck maintenance, equipment operation, and road safety regulations.This position is generally based on a 50-60-hour workweek; actual schedule will be dictated by project needs.Must be able to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as required.Must be able to work out of town, sometimes out of state, and for lengths of time as the job may dictate.Must attend all mandatory safety meetings and participate in discussions with the work crew and any safety personnel on site.Ability to pass drug, driving, background, and pre-employment screening. May be subject to random drug screening in accordance with company policy. AuthorityTo manage, direct, and guide assigned crew members as required for project execution.To provide quality assurance oversight, technical advice, and constructability recommendations to site and project leadership.To identify, document, communicate, and escalate quality or safety concerns.To assist with hiring, promotion, disciplinary, and termination recommendations as assigned. Working Conditions & Physical DemandsTravel from site to site may be required. The position may be assigned to a single project and/or multiple projects as workload determines.Work environment will normally be an active construction site. Exposure to dust, noise, high heat, extreme cold, rain, mud, ice, wind, and changing field conditions should be expected.Frequently required to sit, talk or hear, use hands to handle, touch, type, operate electronics, and complete documentation.Regularly required to stand, walk, bend, squat, kneel, stoop, climb, reach above the shoulders, and inspect work in the field.Team member must be physically able to perform construction activities for training/demonstration purposes and to complete inspection duties, repetitive motion, and heavy lifting as described below.Must be able to maintain effective audio and visual discrimination and perception to the degree necessary for the successful performance of assigned duties.Must wear all employer-mandated personal protective equipment, including hard hat, safety glasses, ear plugs, safety vests, and safety-toed work boots. Other PPE may be required from time to time depending on special safety concerns. All PPE will be provided by the company at no cost to the employee, other than safety boots.Must be able to hear with or without the use of a hearing device and clearly see at least 30 feet with or without the use of corrective vision lens. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.The team member must be able to differentiate and/or identify colors.Must be able to work while wearing a respirator if necessary.Alternate standing and walking on uneven terrain surfaces, such as hillsides, muddy and icy soils, and other working surfaces. Safe negotiation of all types of surface conditions will always be required.Frequent bending, squatting, and kneeling will be required during a workday.Continual lifting of up to 50 lbs. for distances of 30 feet or more may be required.Constant pushing and pulling of certain tools and materials will be required over a day's work.Must have knowledge of occupational hazards in the construction field and standard safety practices. Must be able to pass the 30 Hour OSHA testing and First Aid/CPR requirements before starting work.Must complete and meet requirements under the physical demands of this job description through a pre-employment physical examination.
