Position Summary:

The HVAC Technician is responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and related climate-control systems. This role ensures equipment operates safely, efficiently, and in compliance with applicable standards while delivering professional service to internal teams, customers, or facility stakeholders.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Install, inspect, maintain, and repair HVAC systems, including furnaces, air conditioners, heat pumps, ventilation equipment, thermostats, ductwork, and related components.

• Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and control-system issues using appropriate testing equipment and troubleshooting procedures.

• Perform preventive maintenance to improve system reliability, energy efficiency, and equipment life.

• Respond to all duties, service requests, emergency repairs, and scheduled maintenance assignments in a timely and professional manner.

• Ability to adjust the workday hours accordingly for possible redirection of services/tasks that may come in a higher priority.

• Take/Acknowledge all phone calls, emails, and text messages and respond to communications in a timely manner.

• Read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, schematics, technical manuals, and manufacturer specifications.

• Ensure work complies with safety requirements, applicable codes, manufacturer guidelines, and company policies.

• Maintain accurate records of inspections, repairs, parts used, service work performed, and recommended follow-up actions.

• Communicate clearly with supervisors, customers, vendors, and team members regarding system status, repair options, and maintenance needs.

• Maintain tools, equipment, inventory, and company vehicles in clean, safe, and working condition.

• Support a safe work environment by following lockout/tagout procedures, using appropriate personal protective equipment, and reporting hazards promptly.

• Perform daily duties and tasks in a courteous, timely, and professional manner.

• Maintain a standard of ethics, conduct, and personal appearance.

• Support all other Facilities Staff and Facilities Technician tasks, projects, and workload.

Required Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED required; completion of HVAC technical training, apprenticeship, or equivalent work experience preferred.

• Prior HVAC installation, service, maintenance, or facilities experience preferred.

• EPA Section 608 certification required or ability to obtain within a defined timeframe, if handling refrigerants.

• Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record, if travel or service calls are required.

• Working knowledge of HVAC systems, refrigeration principles, electrical circuits, controls, and mechanical troubleshooting.

• Ability to use hand tools, power tools, gauges, meters, diagnostic equipment, and related service tools safely and effectively.

• Strong problem-solving, time-management, documentation, and customer-service skills.

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team with minimal supervision.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment:

• Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull equipment, tools, and materials as required for the role.

• Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, crawl, climb ladders, and work in confined or elevated spaces.

• Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying temperatures and weather conditions.

• May be exposed to dust, noise, refrigerants, electrical components, mechanical equipment, and other job-related hazards.

• May require participation in an on-call rotation, after-hours service, weekend work, or overtime based on operational needs.
