Assistant Project Manager

Overview MATT Construction, the general contractor behind iconic structures such as The Broad Museum and Academy Museum of Motion Pictures, is accepting applications for the Assistant Project Manager role. The Assistant Project Manager (APM) reports to the Project Manager and, in conjunction with the PM or Senior Project Manager (SPM), orchestrates buyouts and procurement of trades. The APM monitors the procurement schedule, interacts with subcontractors, reviews payment applications, assists with day‑to‑day project manager activities, and mentors a team of Project Engineers. With a builder's mindset, the APM works closely with field superintendents to ensure the project’s schedule and quality of installed materials. Key Responsibilities Assist the project manager with managing profitability, staff development, and positive client relations in partnership with the superintendent. Assist with constructability reviews and problem solving. Work with supervision and the PM to maintain the schedule. Proactively lead safety efforts. Supervise project engineers and interns. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Construction, Architecture, or Engineering preferred; experience will be considered in lieu of education. At least 6 years of building construction experience, including a minimum of 3 years in a Senior Project Engineer role. Understanding of construction management processes and procedures, including estimating, budget control, scheduling, safety management, subcontracts, change orders, submittals, RFIs, and closeout. Technical knowledge of building components and systems. Aptitude for mentoring and training. Experience with BIM and subcontract coordination. Passion for building.
