About the Role

Robert Half is seeking a detail-oriented Loan Processor for a contract opportunity with a growing financial services organization in Meriden, Connecticut. This role is ideal for a professional with experience handling loan documentation, coordinating with borrowers and lenders, and ensuring loans progress efficiently through the approval and closing process.

The Loan Processor will serve as a key point of contact throughout the loan lifecycle, helping to ensure that applications are complete, accurate, and compliant with company and regulatory guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Review loan applications and supporting documentation for accuracy and completeness
• Collect and verify required borrower information, including income, assets, employment, and credit documentation
• Communicate with applicants, loan officers, underwriters, and third-party vendors to obtain outstanding conditions
• Order and monitor appraisals, title reports, flood certifications, and other required documentation
• Maintain accurate and organized loan files throughout the processing cycle
• Submit complete loan packages to underwriting for review
• Track loan statuses and proactively follow up on outstanding items
• Ensure compliance with company policies and applicable lending regulations
• Prepare files for closing and funding
• Provide exceptional customer service while guiding borrowers through the loan process

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred
• 2+ years of loan processing, mortgage processing, banking, or financial services experience
• Knowledge of residential mortgage loan documentation and lending processes
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Outlook, and Word
• Ability to manage multiple loan files and deadlines simultaneously
• Excellent communication and customer service skills
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive financial information

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working with loan origination systems (LOS)
• Familiarity with mortgage underwriting guidelines and compliance requirements
• Experience processing conventional, FHA, VA, or other residential loan products
• Understanding of closing and funding procedures
• NMLS licensing or mortgage industry certifications a plus

Schedule

• Full-time, Monday through Friday
• Standard business hours
• Contract assignment with potential for extension based on business needs
