Substitute School Nurse

Summary The Lebanon Community School Corporation is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Substitute School Nurse to provide temporary nursing services to our students. This role is essential in ensuring the health and safety of our school community by addressing medical needs, promoting wellness, and responding to emergencies. The Substitute School Nurse will work closely with students, staff, and families to create a supportive and healthy environment. Training Each Substitute School Nurse will complete one day of training with the building’s full-time School Nurse before being assigned to substitute in that building. Responsibilities Provide first aid and emergency care to students as needed. Administer prescribed medications and treatments according to established guidelines. Monitor and document student health records, including immunizations and medication administration. Assess and manage student health concerns, including chronic illnesses and acute conditions. Collaborate with teachers and staff to support health education and promote wellness initiatives. Communicate with parents and guardians regarding student health issues and needs. Maintain a clean and organized health office, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations. Participate in school health programs and screenings as required. Assist with the development and implementation of health policies and procedures. Respond to health emergencies and provide appropriate care until further medical assistance is available. Requirements RN Candidates must provide valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Indiana. Other Candidates must provide appropriate medical license valid in the state of Indiana. Bachelor’s degree in nursing or a related field preferred. Previous experience in a school setting or pediatric nursing is a plus. Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with students, staff, and parents. Ability to work independently and make sound decisions in emergency situations. Knowledge of health regulations, procedures, and best practices in school health. Current CPR and First Aid certification.
