About Scout Veterinary Urgent Care: We offer same-day and next-day urgent care appointments to truly fill the gap between routine primary care and the ER. We see a wide variety of urgent appointments while being extremely clear about what we don't do. This supports our teams to help more sick and injured pets every day while allowing our doctors to have clear boundaries.

About the role

This veterinarian will primarily support our Wheaton clinic (1962 S Naperville Rd, Wheaton, IL 60189).

At Scout, it is important that each clinic provides excellent care, sustains a healthy culture, and is supported to deliver the Scout experience. As an urgent care doctor at Scout, you will be a key part of our team.

Case load: Scout doctors manage approximately 10-18 patients daily . Cases span from routine last-minute care to more intricate cases that require in-house diagnostics, treatments, and nursing care. The heartbeat of our caseload lies in true urgent care cases and stable emergencies.

Facilities and Tools: Each clinic is set up with intention and built for the modern client. We have a full in house diagnostic lab, digital radiology, ultrasound, and more. We provide AI enable scribe access for all team members and robust inter and intra clinic communication channels.

Partnerships: Recognizing that urgent care is often just the initial chapter in a pet's medical narrative, Scout takes pride in empowering our doctors to explore the comprehensive answers our patients and clients both need and deserve. We actively foster robust relationships with referral partners to ensure our doctors have a wealth of resources at their fingertips when pets and clients require assistance beyond the bounds of Scout's doors.

Schedule

• 10 hour shift (arrive 9:45 AM, clinic closes at 8 PM)
• Open 7 days a week
• 14 open shifts available now through end of August (see specific dates below). Potential for a full-time relief position beginning in September for the right candidate.
• Strong preference for local Chicagoland candidates who are available to take on relief shifts long-term. This is an ideal opportunity for a DVM already in the area looking for consistent, flexible work with a growing urgent care network.

June - Wheaton: 18, 25, 26

July - Wheaton: 2, 9, 11, 13, 23, 24, 25, 26

August - Wheaton: 8, 9, 17

About you

• Licensed DVM in Illinois with 2+ years of experience in small animal general practice or emergency medicine (completion of 1 year rotating small animal internship desired)
• Detail oriented, well-organized and thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced environment
• Professional who is an excellent verbal and written communicator
• Positive, can-do attitude. You run toward new opportunities and believe your abilities can be improved through effort, learning and persistence.
• Willing to engage in judgement free dialog to foster a culture of psychological safety

Responsibilities

• Deliver superior medicine and an excellent customer experience
• Oversee patient triage and evaluation
• Provide examination, diagnostic recommendations, and treatment to scheduled and walk-in appointments
• Provide clear, transparent, and prompt communication with clients and referral partners regarding patient status, diagnostic and treatment plans, estimates, and follow-up care
• Stabilize patients for transfer to a local emergency/specialty hospital, as needed
• Develop follow up plans with patient's primary care veterinarian as needed
• Maintenance of referral relationships via communication with care partners

Salary: $150,000 - $200,000

Job Type: Full-time. Open to 1099 or W2 contracts.
