Key Responsibilities

Shelter Operations & Safety

• Monitor the facility to ensure a safe, clean, and orderly environment at all times.
• Conduct routine rounds, log observations, and report incidents according to agency protocols.
• Enforce shelter rules, expectations, and curfew policies with professionalism and respect.
• Respond to emergencies, de-escalate conflicts, and notify supervisory staff as needed.
• Client Support & Engagement
• Greet residents, provide guidance, answer questions, and assist with basic needs.
• Support new resident intakes, including documentation, bed assignments, and orientations.
• Build positive rapport with clients, offering encouragement and connecting them to appropriate staff or services.
• Assist with distribution of meals, basic supplies, mail, and hygiene items.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Experience in shelters, social services, security, or customer-service settings preferred.
• Ability to remain calm and professional in crisis situations.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work with diverse populations.
• Basic computer skills for documentation and reporting.
• Must be able to stand/walk for long periods and perform light physical tasks.
