Project Manager – Lead Historic Timber Restoration & Specialty Framing Projects

Job Overview:

• Salary/Pay Rate: $80,000 - $90,000 per year (plus Profit Sharing)

The Opportunity

You will lead unique design-build projects that preserve structural history and craft new heavy timber architecture built to endure for centuries. This role empowers you to solve complex architectural puzzles while managing full project lifecycles alongside a dedicated team of master craftspeople. You will directly impact historical preservation efforts while expanding your professional leadership in a highly specialized, supportive environment.

How You Will Make an Impact

• Lead full-cycle restoration and heavy timber projects from initial scope development through client delivery.
• Produce precise cost estimations and execute material quoting and ordering to keep projects on target.
• Build and manage detailed project schedules using Microsoft Project to guarantee smooth site operations.
• Collaborate with craftspeople, clients, and subcontractors to solve intricate site and logistics challenges.
• Oversee project finances and contractual compliance to ensure efficiency without sacrificing quality.
• Cultivate lasting customer relationships by delivering exceptional service and clear project updates.
• Bring an innovative mindset to evaluating and improving existing project management systems and processes, increasing efficiency and supporting the company’s continued growth.

Required Qualifications & Experience

• Minimum of 3 years of construction management experience.
• Strong mechanical aptitude with proven ability to resolve complex structural and logistical challenges.
• Advanced fluency with Microsoft Excel and proficiency with Microsoft Project.
• Exceptional communication skills for effective collaboration with clients, crews, and vendors.
• Demonstrated technical ability to interpret architectural and structural drawings, develop accurate project estimates, manage construction schedules, and coordinate permitting, materials, and field execution from preconstruction through closeout.
• Willingness to travel up to 10% within the regional project area (Maryland, Virginia, WV, PA).
• Should have reliable transportation.

Preferred Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or PMP Certification.
• Prior experience in heavy timber framing, structural restoration, or working on historic buildings.
• Technical certification or completion of a recognized trade apprenticeship program.
• Strong interest in learning heavy timber framing, structural restoration, and historic building construction, with a willingness to complete specialized hands-on training.
• Experience navigating construction permitting processes, local building requirements, and inspection procedures.
