Acute Care RN (Flint Hills) - Emergency Room - FT - Day

Position Details Position Status: Full time Shift: 12 Hour Day Shift (United States of America) Hours per week: 36 Exemption Status: Non-Exempt Education Qualifications Bachelor's Degree - Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required. Preferred: Additional qualifications may be considered. Preferred Skills and Abilities Awareness and sensitivity to rights of patient and significant other. Application of safety issues within the institution. Awareness of legal issues in patient care and departmental functioning. Risk minimization to patient and institution. Demonstrated competency in selected psychomotor skills. Effective verbal, non-verbal, and written communication. Proficiency in mathematical calculations related to medication administration and equipment calibration, including probability, statistics, geometry, trigonometry, fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions. Licenses and Certifications Registered Nurse – Kansas Board of Nursing (KSBN) or multistate license accepted. Basic Life Support (BLS) – must obtain within 90 days of hire. RQI, CPR, or ACLS certificates may be required depending on department. Key Responsibilities Collect pertinent data and information related to the patient, situation, or setting. Analyze assessment data to determine actual or potential problems and issues. Identify expected outcomes for a patient or situation‑specific plan. Develop a collaborative plan with strategies to achieve outcomes. Implement identified plan through coordination of care and promotion of health and wellness. Evaluate progress toward attainment of goals and outcomes. Deliver professional nursing care guided by Jean Watson’s Theory of Human Caring, creating caring relationships, providing uninterrupted moments, and showing unconditional acceptance and respect. Promote a respectful environment encouraging idea exchange, effective professional relationships, and integrated ethics. Advocate in all roles and settings; practice diversity, equity, and inclusion principles. Communicate effectively across all areas of professional practice. Mentor new nurses for successful orientation, competence, and emotional support. Support student learning and professional growth. Commit to lifelong learning through critical thinking, self‑reflection, and inquiry. Participate and lead practice evolution within the Stormont Vail Health professional practice model. Utilize appropriate resources to plan, provide, and sustain evidence‑based nursing services that are safe, effective, and financially responsible. Comply with all organizational policies, standards, mandatory training, and requirements. Perform any other duties as assigned. Physical Demands Balancing: Occasionally 1‑3 hours. Operate Foot Controls: Rarely less than 1 hour. Pulling (up to 50 lbs): Frequently 3‑5 hours. Pushing (up to 50 lbs): Frequently 3‑5 hours. Reaching (forward & overhead, up to 25 lbs): Occasionally 1‑3 hours. Repetitive Motions: Occasionally 1‑3 hours. Sitting: Occasionally 1‑3 hours. Standing: Frequently 3‑5 hours. Working Conditions: Burn, Chemical, Combative Patients, Dusts, Electrical, Explosive, Extreme Temperatures, Infectious Diseases, Mechanical, Needlestick, Noise/Sounds, Poor Ventilation, Radiant Energy, Hazards, Vibration, Wet/Humid.
