Assistant Community Director (Assistant Property Manager) Kent, WA About American Property Management Founded in Bellevue, Washington in 1987, American Property Management stands proud as a leader in property management. At APM, our teams leverage modern technology and AI tools to automate routine work, surface insights faster, and free up time for high‑impact, human problem‑solving. Through AI and other technology, we have reduced the time our teams spend in delinquency follow‑up, prospect follow‑up, resident follow‑up and questions, renewal follow‑up, and work‑order follow‑up and questions. We don’t replace people with technology – we use AI as a smart assistant so our teams can collaborate better, make data‑informed decisions, and focus on the work that matters most. We are looking for people who are curious and innovative, excited to experiment with new tools, and passionate about using technology to drive our company forward. Schedule & On‑Site Requirements Tuesday – Friday: 9 am – 6 pm; Saturday: 8 am – 5 pm (flexible, may require additional hours per project needs) On‑site requirement: position requires physical presence at the property during scheduled hours. Must be able to reliably commute or plan to relocate prior to starting work. Current residents of the property are not eligible. Property: 131‑unit senior tax‑credit community built in 2018. Compensation Package $28 to $30 per hour* Monthly leasing bonuses Competitive medical, dental, and vision benefits (employer pays 85% of employee premium) 401(k) contribution with annual company match Paid sick leave: 1.33 hours for every 30 hours worked (~11 days per year) Paid vacation starting at two weeks, increasing with tenure 11 paid holidays, including two personal holidays of your choice * Pay range depends on candidate experience and location. What We Offer Competitive starting wages (listed above) Commitment to diversity and inclusion across the company Positive work environment valuing employee contributions Team‑building activities and events Comprehensive training programs and development opportunities What We're Looking For 2+ years of property management experience with 1+ year as an assistant or 3+ years of leasing/property management experience within the last 10 years LIHTC/affordable housing experience preferred Knowledge of Federal Fair Housing Laws, Landlord/Tenant Laws, and ADA laws preferred Customer service experience required Onesite and/or Knock experience preferred High school diploma or GED required Exceptional attention to detail and strong organizational skills Proficient in effective communication and teamwork Positive outlook and collaborative team approach Responsible and takes pride in work Fluent in English (strong reading, speaking, writing) Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) Your Role Connect with prospects via email, phone, and appointments; conduct virtual and/or in‑person unit tours to showcase property features Collaborate with colleagues to assist residents, build rapport, and foster a sense of community Address resident issues and facilitate healthy resident relations Research and forecast market trends; prepare for upcoming trends and brainstorm creative ideas to keep community thriving Support property operations by preparing reports for the Community Director Organize resident events and ensure they meet APM’s Quality Standards Manage leasing and renewal processes, including transactions, record keeping, and accurate data entry Responsibilities above are not exhaustive. Candidate Screening & Interview Process Qualified applicants will complete an online assessment and, if selected, participate in a virtual interview with Human Resources. Successful candidates will then interview with the hiring manager and additional staff as needed. Background Checks and Screenings Applicants will undergo a background check and a 4‑panel drug screening, which may include professional reference checks, credit checks, county and nationwide criminal history reviews, social media screenings, and verification of education, certification, and employment.
