Transmission Line Engineering Manager

Salary: $174,701 - 296,992 per year Requirements:

• We require a bachelors degree in Electrical, Civil, Structural, Mechanical, Power Engineering, or a related discipline, along with Professional Engineer (PE) licensure.
• We are looking for 12+ years of experience with an electric utility, EPC, or engineering consulting firm.
• We need 10+ years of transmission line engineering experience in areas such as design, analysis, or modeling.
• We expect experience leading multidisciplinary engineering teams, managing project portfolios, planning resources, and overseeing financial performance.
• We require project management experience on transmission projects from 4kV to 500kV, including WBS, critical path, EV, SOV, milestone, and change management methods.
• We require proficiency with PLS-CADD and related transmission line engineering software tools and principles.
• We require the ability to travel for client presentations, field visits, industry conferences, and project reviews.
• Preferred qualifications include stakeholder coordination across permitting, environmental, ROW, planning, procurement, geotechnical, and constructability efforts.
• Preferred candidates will have a track record of recruiting, developing, and retaining engineering talent.
• Preferred experience includes business development, client relationship management, and delegation of engineering work.
• Preferred software experience includes PLS-POLE, L-PILE, and/or MFAD.
• Preferred candidates will have working knowledge of utility regulations and standards such as NERC, FERC, NESC, ASCE, IEEE, ANSI, FAC-008, and FERC Order 881.
• Preferred experience includes establishing engineering standards, QA/QC programs, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Preferred candidates will understand consulting operations, including utilization management, revenue forecasting, and departmental financial performance.
• Preferred experience includes line routing, structure spotting, structural analysis and design, foundation design, hardware selection, conductor and shield wire selection, material specifications, and construction support.
• Preferred candidates will have experience developing client proposals, including T&M and fixed-fee scopes, risk registers, schedules, and onboarding requirements.

• You will oversee transmission line engineering projects to ensure work is delivered safely, on time, within budget, and aligned with our quality standards and client expectations.
• You will provide technical direction on complex transmission line work, act as a senior resource for staff and clients, and encourage best practices and innovation.
• You will create, maintain, and improve engineering standards, QA/QC procedures, and operational workflows to increase consistency, efficiency, and technical excellence.
• You will own departmental performance, including utilization, backlog, staffing forecasts, revenue, profitability, and overall financial results.
• You will partner with project managers and business leaders to track project performance, manage risk, address resource constraints, and resolve schedule, budget, and quality issues.
• You will build and maintain strong relationships with utility clients, contractors, and industry partners while supporting pursuits, proposals, scope development, contract negotiations, and client satisfaction efforts.
• You will identify and drive growth opportunities, service expansion, and market development while contributing to strategic planning and the long-term success of our transmission engineering practice.
• You will promote our safety, quality, compliance, and professional development programs while ensuring alignment with applicable industry standards, client requirements, and regulatory obligations.
