ABOUT THE TEAM The Reliability Engineering team partners across Anduril’s engineering, manufacturing, and operations organizations to ensure our autonomous systems survive real‑world conditions and deliver consistent performance for our customers. Our mandate spans the complete product lifecycle—from early concept design through production scale‑up and fielded operations. We use data, statistical methods, and engineering analysis to forecast how our systems will perform over time and influence design decisions, including part selection, redundancy strategies, and maintenance approaches. We establish tailored reliability frameworks by program and partner with Quality to drive design robustness, failure prevention, and rapid response to issues in the field. ABOUT THE JOB We are seeking an experienced Reliability Engineer to join our team in Lexington, MA / Waltham, MA, driving reliability for our Imaging product line. This is a hands‑on role focused on embedding reliability into early product architecture and detailed design—from early concept trade studies through design validation and transition to manufacturing. You’ll be the reliability champion throughout the design‑development process, working closely with mechanical, electrical, and software engineering teams to ensure designs are robust. Your responsibilities will include conducting reliability predictions and allocations during architecture trades, leading design FMEAs and fault‑tree analyses to identify and mitigate failure modes, developing and executing design verification test plans, performing stress‑derating analysis and parts selection reviews, and assessing design changes for reliability impact throughout the development cycle. It requires deep technical knowledge of hardware reliability and failure mechanisms, practical experience on product development programs, and the ability to engage credibly with design engineers and subcontractors while maintaining focus on system‑level reliability outcomes. WHAT YOU'LL DO Perform Failure Modes Effects and Criticality Analyses (FMECA) and Fault Detection/Isolation analyses and collaborate cross‑functionally to implement product improvements for reliability. Perform predictive reliability analyses to forecast probability of field failures and MTTF/MTBF utilizing Anduril requirements, specifications and relevant industry standards (e.g., MIL‑HDBK‑217Plus). Develop Maintainability prediction models using MIL‑HDBK‑472 and support preventive maintenance and sparing plans. Develop and communicate RAM (Reliability, Availability, Maintainability) reports internally and to external parties. Review field failure data and perform Weibull analyses to fine‑tune future predictions. Collaborate with hardware teams and failure analysis labs to investigate root causes of time‑based failures and guide design iterations. Track and model physical and functional degradation parameters over time to predict end‑of‑life thresholds before failures occur. Develop statistical models to project warranty claims and field failure rates, providing data‑driven risk assessments across teams. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS 8+ years experience in a hardware‑focused Reliability Engineer, Design/Development Engineer, or Quality Engineering role with a strong emphasis on life‑data analysis. Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Statistics, Materials Science, or a related field. Experience or familiarity with MIL‑STD‑810, MIL‑HDBK‑217, MIL‑STD‑461, MIL‑STD‑516C, and MIL‑STD‑1629. Experience setting up a Reliability Engineering framework for a product or program, including support of production testing, field testing, data acquisition, and analysis. Expertise in reliability analysis techniques, including FMEA/FMECA, predictive modeling, Weibull analysis, and fault‑tree analysis. Familiarity with structured root‑cause analysis and problem‑solving methodologies (e.g., 8D, 5 Whys, Fishbone diagrams, Kepner‑Tregoe) within a CAPA or FRACAS framework. Eligibility to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance. Design review experience (PDR, CDR, MRR) and confidence in presenting across all leadership levels. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS M.S. degree in a related technical field. Experience with DO‑254, DO‑178, MIL‑HDBK‑217Plus, MIL‑HDBK‑472, ARP‑4754. Experience with HALT, HASS, environmental testing, or mechanical testing. Demonstrated experience with EO/IR systems. US Salary Range $166,000 - $220,000 USD The salary range for this role is an estimate based on a wide range of compensation factors, inclusive of base salary only.
