Job Description

The Electrician Foreman supervises and coordinates the activities of electricians on commercial construction projects, ensuring all electrical installations meet project specifications, electrical codes, and safety standards. This role plans and schedules work, oversees installations from start to finish, and serves as a key point of contact between field crews and project leadership. The Electrician Foreman also trains and mentors junior electricians, maintains accurate documentation, and promotes a strong safety culture on every job site.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of electricians on commercial construction sites.
• Plan, schedule, and oversee electrical installations to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project timelines.
• Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical diagrams to understand the scope of work and guide installation efforts.
• Ensure all electrical work complies with applicable electrical codes, standards, and safety regulations.
• Conduct regular safety meetings and enforce safety protocols to maintain a safe work environment for all team members.
• Communicate effectively with project managers, engineers, and architects to confirm project specifications and resolve field issues.
• Train, mentor, and support junior electricians to develop their technical skills and understanding of best practices.
• Coordinate conduit bending, wiring, and wire pulling activities to complete electrical installations in commercial settings.
• Oversee troubleshooting and resolution of electrical issues that arise during construction or installation.
• Monitor material usage, verify quantities, and ensure appropriate tools and equipment are available on site.
• Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, and any changes or adjustments made during the project.
• Support construction activities by collaborating with other trades and ensuring electrical work integrates smoothly with overall project plans.

Essential Skills

• Proven experience as a commercial electrician, preferably in commercial construction environments.
• Strong knowledge of electrical codes, standards, and safety regulations.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and other technical documents.
• Proficiency in conduit bending and installation for commercial projects.
• Experience pulling wire and performing wiring installations in commercial settings.
• Solid troubleshooting skills to identify and resolve electrical issues on site.
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to supervise and coordinate a team of electricians.
• Effective communication skills to interact with project managers, engineers, architects, and field personnel.
• Ability to maintain accurate documentation of work performed and materials used.
• Commitment to enforcing and promoting safety protocols on every job site.

• Ability to train and mentor junior electricians to build a strong and capable team.
• Comfort working both indoors and outdoors depending on project phase and scope of work.
• Strong organizational skills to manage schedules, materials, and multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Basic proficiency with digital tools and devices, such as tablets, for documentation and communication.

Work Environment

The role involves working both indoors and outdoors, depending on the phase of the job and the scope of work. The environment is field-based and construction-oriented, requiring comfort with active job sites, coordination with other trades, and adherence to safety protocols at all times. Foremen use tools and equipment typical of commercial electrical construction, as well as digital devices such as an iPad for plans, documentation, and communication.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Chicago, IL.

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $42.00/hr.
