Job Summary Physical Therapist Assistant position in the Orthopedic Outpatient department at Bradley System Health Wilson Hospital The Plaza, College Station, TX. Location : BSWH The Plaza, College Station TX. Department : Physical Therapy - Orthopedic Outpatient. Shift : Day – Monday to Thursday 7:15 am – 5:30 pm, Friday 7:15 am – 5:00 pm. Preferred Experience Completed or currently attending an accredited PTA program; PTA license must be active or pending. Experience with outpatient orthopedics patients ranging from adolescents to geriatrics. Role Overview Under the supervision of a physical therapist, the Physical Therapist Assistant conducts patient assessment, testing, and therapy using standard physical therapy modalities to restore function, relieve pain, and prevent disability. Essential Functions Administers physical therapy interventions as directed by the Physical Therapist to facilitate quality patient care. Instructs and assists patients, monitors performance and physical status to assess program effectiveness. Assists with patient mobility, including bed mobility, transfers, and gait. Uses modalities correctly and answers patient questions regarding their use. Adheres to safety practices and patient guarding protocols. Escorts patients to the treatment area in preparation for treatment. Establishes rapport with patients professionally. Develops and documents effective home exercise programs and supplemental instructional programs as needed. Prepares comprehensive and concise assessments and documentation of patient treatment and progress. Communicates with the Physical Therapist regarding patient progress and need for goal modification. Submits accurate charges in a timely manner. Supervises physical therapy aides and students, when appropriate and assigned, in accordance with Texas Physical Therapy Practice Act guidelines. Maintains continuing education and/or certification requirements to qualify for the position. Participates in professional education programs, reviews current literature, and presents educational programs to staff when requested. Qualifications Education: Associate’s degree. Experience: Less than 1 year of experience. Certifications/License/Registration Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA).
