Prior Authorization Pharmacy Technician

Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Pharmacy Technician to join our Pharmacy team. In this role, you will support pharmacists in delivering safe, accurate, and efficient pharmaceutical care while helping ensure patients receive the medications and services they need. Your attention to detail, organizational skills, and commitment to quality will play an important role in supporting patient care and pharmacy operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist pharmacists with medication distribution, billing, and patient record management processes
• Interpret prescriptions, enter patient and prescription information, and prepare prior authorization forms on behalf of providers
• Perform clerical and administrative duties that support daily pharmacy operations
• Maintain departmental systems, records, and documentation in accordance with established policies and procedures
• Operate pharmacy equipment and technology systems effectively and safely
• Participate in department meetings, hospital committees, and quality improvement initiatives
• Assist with training and orientation of new employees as needed
• Communicate effectively with patients, providers, customers, and fellow team members
• Apply sound judgment to support patient safety and minimize errors
• Maintain confidentiality of patient information and exercise discretion when handling sensitive information
• Comply with organizational policies, procedures, and standards of conduct
• Demonstrate strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize work effectively

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required
• Pharmacy technician experience preferred
• Knowledge of medical terminology preferred
• Must be licensed or eligible for licensure as a Pharmacy Technician in Indiana and Kentucky
• Must obtain Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) designation within one year of employment
• Strong clerical, organizational, and time management skills
• Ability to communicate effectively in one-on-one and small group settings
• Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations, including fractions, decimals, ratios, and percentages
• Ability to analyze and solve practical problems using sound judgment
• Ability to interpret written, verbal, diagrammatic, and schedule-based instructions
• Ability to maintain concentration and accuracy in a fast-paced healthcare environment
