Job Title: Journeyman Garage Door Technician Job Description

This role focuses on installing and troubleshooting commercial garage door systems in a hands-on, field-based environment. You will work with a crew to assemble, install, and service doors and related equipment using a variety of hand and power tools, while interpreting construction documents and ensuring safe, high-quality workmanship.

• Install commercial garage doors and related equipment according to specifications and safety standards.
• Assemble door components using hand tools, power tools, and measuring devices such as tape measures.
• Troubleshoot and repair commercial garage door systems and equipment as needed.
• Read and interpret blueprints and construction documents to complete installations accurately.
• Work at heights using ladders and manlifts to access installation and service locations.
• Collaborate with a crew of 510 team members to complete projects efficiently and safely.
• Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a clean, safe, and organized condition.
• Follow all safety procedures and guidelines while working on active construction and commercial sites.
• Adapt to varying outdoor conditions and continue working year-round, including in snowy weather.
• Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors to coordinate tasks and resolve issues on site.

• At least 2+ years of experience in a mechanical or construction setting.
• Proficiency using hand tools and power tools in a construction or mechanical environment.
• Ability to accurately use a tape measure and perform precise measurements.
• Experience working in general construction or related trades.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and construction drawings.
• Comfort working on ladders and operating manlifts at various heights.
• Physical ability to perform labor-intensive tasks, including lifting, carrying, and working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to safe work practices.
• Capability to work effectively as part of a crew on job sites.

• Background in commercial construction or mechanical installation work.
• Experience with production-style work or fast-paced field installations.
• Familiarity with commercial door systems or similar mechanical assemblies.
• Ability to troubleshoot mechanical and electrical aspects of installed equipment.
• Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to resolving issues on site.

This is a field-based role working outdoors year-round as part of a crew of approximately 510 people. You will work on active commercial and construction sites, using hand tools, power tools, tape measures, and access equipment such as ladders and manlifts. Work continues in all seasons, including snowy conditions, so you should be prepared for varying weather and outdoor environments. The organization operates dedicated commercial install and commercial service divisions, creating a professional, trade-focused environment with a strong emphasis on teamwork, safety, and consistent workflow.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Spokane, WA.

The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $30.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
