Registered Nurse - MedSurg Night Shift

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Registered Nurse for our MedSurg unit. This position entails providing high-quality care to patients in a fast-paced environment, ensuring their comfort and safety while promoting a collaborative team approach.

Responsibilities

• Deliver nursing care to patients on the MedSurg unit, including post-surgical, orthopedic, and general medical patients.
• Monitor patient conditions and administer required treatments, including heparin and comfort measures.
• Coordinate care plans and collaborate with the healthcare team to optimize patient outcomes.
• Participate in resource management during nights, ensuring adequate patient assignments are maintained.
• Handle telehealth monitoring, cooperating with technicians for remote patient tele monitoring.
• Adhere to safety protocols related to COVID-19 patients, managing both 'clean' and 'dirty' assignments effectively.

Schedule

This is a full-time position, requiring 12-hour night shifts. Weekend work is mandatory, with a schedule that includes every other weekend and two Fridays per month.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Current RN license in the state.
• BLS certification required.
• Experience in a MedSurg setting is preferred.
• Ability to float to other MedSurg units as needed.

MEDSURG UNITS
Unit1W MedSurg: (Cost Center 3427)
2E MedSurg: (Cost Center 3424) # beds
1W MedSurg = 28-Beds (all private)
2E MedSurg = 29-Beds (all private)
NOTE: 2E MedSurg includes 2N & 2S but they refer to entire area of 2E as all one big unit Certs BLS is the only required certification
Ratios1:6-7 Charge Nurse/House Supervisor
They have a Clinical Manager Mon-Sat who acts as both charge nurse & nurse manager. They don't take patients unless the census is greater than 24 then they will take patients.
Nights has a resource nurse who takes a full patient assignment.


Nurse Aides: Both 1W & 2E will each have 2 CNA's on Days but no CNA's on nights


Nurse's Read Strips? No Drips Heparin & possibly MSO4 for comfort measures, but no cardiac gtts Vents Bipap, Cpap, High Flow - all managed per RT


Tele They can have patients on remote tele but there are no monitors on this unit. Tele patients are monitored remotely by the monitor tech on the 3rd floor
