About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Med Surg Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Nights Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 1 year of experience in the related nursing specialty preferred License: RN License in state of employment or compact Certifications: BLS certification required Must-Have: - Ability to float to all Med/Surg departments as needed - Weekend requirement: 2 to 4 shifts per month (rotated among staff) Description: The competent nurse in a clinical setting practices independently and demonstrates an awareness of all relevant aspects of a situation. Provides routine and complex care, with the ability to plan long-range goals. Continuously develops the ability to cope with and manage contingencies of clinical nursing. Makes appropriate assignments and delegates to other care providers as a means to help manage the clinical situation. Meets the expectations of applicable competencies, including leadership roles. Consistent with standards of practice, provides nursing care utilizing the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation for assigned patients. Addresses increasingly complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families according to their level of practice. Uses appropriate protocols to administer medications and treatments; monitors for side effects and effectiveness of the prescribed treatment. Documents patient history, symptoms, medications, and care given. Assesses learning needs and provides education to patients, family members, and/or caregivers; identifies issues and resources.
