Position:  Lower School After-School Teacher

Reports To:  Head of Lower School

FLSA Classification:  Non-Exempt

 

Description: 

The After-School Teacher is responsible for the supervision of Pre-K to Lower School age children during the after-school hours. 

Responsibilities:

• Supervision of students’ safety in the classroom, on the playground and on other campus facilities.
• Assistance with homework.
• Preparation and distribution of snack.
• Planning and overseeing of classroom activities such as: crafts, games, Christian based discussions and group activities.
• Communicates with parents regarding homework progress and behavior.
• Observes all rules and regulations of the local, state or national regulatory agencies pertaining to the health, safety and care of children.
• Accepts responsibility for maintenance and necessary housekeeping duties of the classroom, common use areas and playgrounds. 
• Maintains overall professional personal appearance adhering to the MPCS guidelines. 
• Supports the value of an education founded in Christian values.
• Supports the philosophy and mission of Mount Pisgah Christian School.

 

Qualifications:

• A mission-driven individual who demonstrates an eagerness to serve in a faith-based academic environment & genuine ability to connect with and serve young people in a Christian community. 
• Communications: Effective written, verbal, and editing communication skills. Should be able to adapt communication style to suit different audiences.
• Collaboration: Has student-centered-focus and ability to work with multiple internal and external stakeholders, including students, families, faculty, staff, and community partners.
• Analytical Skills: Budget Management.

• Frequently to stand, walk distances, and climb stairs
• Drive personal vehicle across campuses.
• Have specific vision abilities required by this job, include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
• Work with noise levels in the work environment that can be loud or quiet. 
• Manage equipment, including a phone, computer, camera, video equipment, and other electronic devices.
• Use muscles and limbs to lift boxes or items under 30 pounds.
• Occasional work nights and weekends in support of departmental school activities.
