Department Summary The Budget, Financial Analysis and Data Analytics (BFADA) divisionreports to the Senior Vice President for Finance and Administrationwith a dotted line to the Office of the Provost. BFADA units are aninstitutional resource and provide strategic and operationalbudget, financial analysis, and data analytics services to alllevels of the University of Oregon. The office of Data Enablement within BFADA supports faculty, staff,and leadership to use data deliberately to support decision making.The Data Enablement team empowers effective data use by deliveringtrusted data, data tools, and user support. We partner withacademic and administrative units to ensure governance andmanagement of data, provide consistent data definitions and accessto information, and create data tools for decision support at alllevels of the organization. BFADA supports the university's mission by delivering financialtools and operational support to academic and administrative unitsand supports decision makers with consistent, timely, and accuratereports and strategic insights. The division is committed tostrategic priorities of the Finance and Administrationportfolio. Position Summary The Research Analyst supports the Office of Data Enablement'smission to provide trusted data, data tools, and user support forinstitutional decision-making. This position works on a team thatsupports data needs across campus, but primarily partners withAcademic Affairs to collect, analyze, and communicate data relatedto student and faculty success, with an emphasis on producingtimely, accurate, and well managed analyses that inform academicand curricular priorities. Working independently and collaboratively, the analyst developsdashboards, standard and ad hoc reports, and analytical tools thataddress critical questions related to curriculum, program andstudent learning outcome assessment, and student success.Responsibilities include managing data collection and cleaning,selecting appropriate methodologies, and translating findings intoclear findings for diverse audiences. The role supports keyinstitutional efforts such as strategic plan implementation,curricular analytics, and assessment reporting. The Research Analyst collaborates with campus data partners topromote shared data definitions, access, and efficiencies thatstrengthen internal data use. The position also contributes toproactive data dissemination and user education, expandingeffective use of existing data sources and tools. This rolerequires careful handling of sensitive and confidential data,strong time management skills, and the ability to manage multipleprojects in a dynamic environment. The position is grounded in a commitment to user-support, effectivedecision-making and to improving institutional practice throughthoughtful analysis, clear communication, and well-designed datatools. Minimum Requirements Bachelor's degree in data science, statistics, social science,education, or related field, AND two years of experience inresearch, data analysis, or assessment (or equivalent combinationof education and experience) Two year's experience using data visualization software (e.g.,Power BI, Tableau) Experience producing and maintaining dashboards, regularperformance reports, and/or ad hoc analyses for decision makersusing tools such as SQL, R, Python, Power BI, Tableau. Experience working successfully with complex relational databasesand with statistical resources such as query and businessintelligence tools. Experience using statistical analysis software (e.g., Stata,SPSS, SAS, R). Professional Competencies Strong organizational and time management skills, with theability to manage multiple projects and firm deadlines. Demonstrated ability to work effectively and collaboratively witha wide variety of university constituencies. Ability to work independently as well as in a collaborative teamenvironment. Ability to translate complex data into clear, accurate, and audience appropriate insights for non technical users. Preferred Qualifications Experience with higher education learning outcome assessment orprogram evaluation. Experience working with sensitive or confidential data andapplying appropriate data stewardship and privacy practices. Graduate-level coursework in statistics, research methods, datamanagement, social-science research or relevant experience.
