Veterinary Extern - General Practice

Externship Overview At Animal Hospital of Waynesville , we love teaching! We are a clinic that is close‑knit and loves to have fun. We're passionate about high‑quality patient care, customer service, and individualized preventative care plans for all patients. We are Fear Free certified, AAHA accredited, and Feline Friendly, holding ourselves to the highest standards while considering clients' financial capabilities. We have a shift every day that primarily sees same‑day, sick appointments, providing the opportunity to handle emergencies. One of our DVMs also serves as the local shelter’s veterinarian, offering opportunities for surgeries and exposure to shelter veterinary work. Our equipment includes digital dental radiography, digital radiography, ultrasound, an in‑house CBC/chemistry/urine analyzer, and multiple SNAP tests. We're nestled in the Blue Ridge mountains, just a half hour outside Asheville, with local shops, coffee, restaurants, and breweries within walking distance. The area offers hiking, biking, running, paddleboarding, skiing, camping, and other outdoor activities. We would love for you to come extern with us! Externship experiences range from two to eight weeks depending on student and hospital schedules, designed for 3rd and 4th year veterinary students. Veterinary students in the clinical portion of their education are eligible for a travel/living expense stipend.
