Mechanical Technician

Job Overview Salary: £43,000.00 per annum plus Veolia benefits. Hours: 40 hours per week, Mon‑Fri 07:30am – 4pm Location: Chilton, Durham, DL17 0PB Benefits 25 days of annual leave plus bank holidays Access to our company/people's pension scheme Discounts on groceries and well known retailers Access to resources supporting physical, mental and financial health 24‑hour access to a virtual GP, 365 days a year, for you and family members One paid day leave every year to volunteer and support your community Ongoing training and development opportunities Responsibilities Perform and document mechanical maintenance on conveyors, pumps, valves, compressors, hydraulic and any mechanical equipment found on a biomass power station Excellent problem solving and solution resolution, demonstrating root cause analysis using appropriate tools and techniques Inspect, repair and maintain all types of mechanical systems Maintain files, logs and drawings for all mechanical systems using the Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS) Propose and develop modifications and improvements to plant/apparatus as appropriate Liaise with contractors carrying out mechanical tasks/projects to ensure compliance with company procedures Control of mechanical spares and consumables on site Qualifications Recognised Engineering Apprenticeship Qualified to at least HNC or equivalent in Engineering (desirable) Detailed knowledge of all aspects of maintenance techniques associated with mechanical systems Understanding and interpretation of mechanical drawings Ability to work on own or as part of a team effectively and efficiently Equal Opportunities We are committed to ensuring that all applicants and colleagues receive fair treatment without discrimination on any grounds, aiming to create a diverse and inclusive workplace where everyone can thrive.
