Job Summary:


The Operating Room Registered Nurse (Circulator) is responsible for providing skilled nursing care in the surgical environment, ensuring patient safety and supporting the surgical team throughout procedures. This role requires expertise in circulating duties, acute care hospital experience, and proficiency in documentation using Epic. Strong communication and collaboration with interdisciplinary teams are essential. The position involves working four 10-hour shifts weekly with weekend and on-call rotations.

Responsibilities:

• Provide circulating nursing care during surgical procedures in the Operating Room.
• Ensure patient safety and comfort before, during, and after surgery.
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other team members to facilitate efficient surgical flow.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the Epic electronic health record system.
• Participate in weekend and on-call rotations as scheduled.
• Float within circulating positions as needed to support department needs.

Required Skills & Certifications:

• Current Registered Nurse license in New York State.
• Minimum of two years acute care hospital experience with circulating duties in the Operating Room.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification current and valid.
• Proficiency with Epic electronic health record documentation.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

• Previous experience as an Operating Room Circulator preferred.
• Experience working in a fast-paced surgical environment.

Special Considerations:

• Weekend rotation required every 5-6 weekends.
• On-call rotation required every 5-6 nights.
• Floating within circulating roles is mandatory.
• Local candidates are not eligible; must reside more than 75 miles from the facility.

Scheduling:

• Four 10-hour shifts per week, typically from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
• Weekend and on-call rotations as specified in the special considerations.
