Energy Transport

Job Title

The primary function of this position is to ensure safe loading, transport, and delivery of bulk refined fuels and propane products from various terminals to Central United Cooperative storage and direct to customers of the cooperative.

Major areas of accountability include:

• Coordinating an efficient route system with dispatch to maximize time and cost-per-mile efficiencies.
• Taking responsibility for the maintenance and appearance of assigned vehicle.
• Operating vehicle in a safe manner and in compliance with all DOT, OSHA, and other state and federal regulations related to the energy industry.
• Being responsible for the accurate delivery of all Bill of Ladings to customers and the internal energy accounting office.
• Performing routine customer tank inspections.
• Assisting in resolving customer complaints quickly and fairly in accordance with company policies. Refers unusual situations to direct supervisor and/or the VP of Energy.
• Maintaining required logs, daily truck inspections and other required documentation.
• Attending appropriate training sessions as part of programs of continuing education.
• Performing other duties as assigned.

Other requirements include:

• Being in good physical condition capable of lifting, carrying and pushing weights up to 50 pounds and having full use of both arms and legs and both hands.
• Being able to climb stairs, reach above, below and at shoulder level, work on moving machinery, work at unprotected heights with dust, fumes or gas and in temperature extremes both inside and outside.
• Attending all educational training required by law.
• Complying with all safety regulations and policies of the company.

Basic qualifications include:

• High school diploma desired but not required.
• Having a valid Class A commercial driver's license with haz-mat and tanker endorsements, or being able to acquire the licensure immediately.
• Being an insurable driver.
• Being able to drive vehicles with manual and automatic transmissions.
• Undergoing pre-employment and random drug testing.
• Having strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively and effectively with a wide range of customers and work colleagues.
• Being a self-starter, detail oriented, energetic, and adhering to deadlines.
• Having the ability and willingness to work extended hours in peak seasons.

Value-added qualifications include:

• Knowledge about energy department products and services.
• Previous hazardous material transportation experience is desirable.
• Mechanical aptitude is desirable.
• Cooperative experience and/or an agricultural background.
