Operations Manager, apprentices, field team, office staff, customers, contractors, project managers, and other trades as required

EXPECTED HOURS

7:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m., with some flexibility depending on project and service requirements

PAY/RATE

Negotiable based on experience and capability

Role Summary

The Journeyman Electrician is responsible for completing assigned residential, commercial, service/maintenance, and new construction electrical work safely, efficiently, and to a high standard.

The role also includes providing appropriate job-site supervision, instruction, and practical training to apprentices while taking ownership of workmanship, communication, productivity, and the successful completion of assigned jobs.

Responsibilities

Arrive at work and job sites on time, prepared, appropriately dressed, and ready to complete the day’s work.

Complete assigned electrical installations, service work, maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, and construction work safely and professionally.

Perform work in accordance with applicable electrical codes, safety requirements, company standards, plans, specifications, and job instructions.

Supervise and provide appropriate direction to apprentice electricians assigned to work under you, ensuring work is completed safely and correctly.

Train and mentor apprentices in practical electrical skills, safe work practices, proper use of tools and equipment, job-site organization, customer service, and company procedures.

Review the work completed by apprentices under your supervision and address workmanship, safety, or performance concerns promptly.

Communicate clearly with the Operations Manager regarding job progress, labor requirements, material requirements, delays, additional work, customer concerns, and problems that may affect job completion.

Communicate professionally with customers regarding job commencement, work in progress, access requirements, and job completion while referring pricing, scope changes, or other matters to management when appropriate.

Plan assigned work efficiently and ensure the necessary tools, materials, equipment, and information are available before and during the job.

Maintain company and personal tools and equipment in safe working condition and promptly report damaged, missing, or unsafe equipment.

Accurately record labor time, job notes, materials used, photographs, return visits, and other required information in the company’s job management system.

Maintain a clean, organized, and safe job site throughout the work and leave the customer’s property or project area clean and professional at completion.

Look after assigned company vehicles, maintain appropriate van stock, and report maintenance issues, damage, or material shortages promptly.

Identify potential problems, additional work, variations, or work outside the assigned scope and communicate these to the Operations Manager before proceeding where approval is required.

Participate in company meetings, safety discussions, training, and continuous improvement activities and contribute practical ideas that improve quality, productivity, and customer service.

Represent the company professionally at all times and take ownership of the quality, safety, productivity, and professionalism of work completed by you and apprentices working under your supervision.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

Productive/Chargeable Labor: Maintain 95% of paid field time assigned to productive/chargeable job activities, excluding approved meetings, training, travel classifications, and authorized non-chargeable activities.

Quality & Callbacks: Maintain a callback/defect rate below 2% on work completed by you or under your direct job-site supervision.

Job Documentation & Closeout: Complete 100% of required timesheets, job notes, material records, photographs, and job-management updates by the end of each workday, with completed jobs ready for timely invoicing.
