Medical Laboratory Scientist I

Job Overview: Pay Range: $35.00hr - $40.00hr Requirement/Must Have: Bachelor's degree required, degree in Chemistry or Biochemistry strongly preferred. Transcripts will be requested for review throughout consideration process. 1+ years Clinical experience (high complexity testing) preferred. Experience with LC-MS or ICP-MS strongly preferred. Responsibilities: Follow the laboratory's procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analyses, reporting and maintaining records of patient test result. Maintain records that demonstrate that proficiency testing samples are tested in the same manner as patient specimens. Analyze specimens using approved testing procedures. Review and release test results. Follow CLIA, HIPAA, OSHA, and safety guidelines as described in their respective guidelines. Follow the laboratory's established policies and procedures whenever test systems are not within the laboratory's established acceptable levels of performance. Identify problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting of test results, correct the problems encountered or immediately notify the senior technologist or supervisor. Physical Requirements(Due to nature of job, The candidate must have): Ability to lift 1 to 10 pounds frequently. Ability to lift 11 to 25 pounds occasionally. Ability to lift 36 to 50 pounds seldom. Ability to stand and work at the bench for long periods of time. Ability to walk and stand frequently. Ability to use manual and automated pipettes requiring significant manual dexterity.
