Fitness Manager

Position Purpose Build a cohesive Personal Training (PT) team, ensure a healthy pipeline of clients, and deliver an exceptional fitness experience to clients and members. Responsibilities Achieve sales targets month‑over‑month, driving membership growth and ensuring the team meets or exceeds set goals for new personal training agreements, client retention, and overall revenue generation. Collaborate with the membership sales team to support new member onboarding, driving sales initiatives and establishing a smooth transition into the club experience. Hire, train, schedule, and supervise staff members, including Personal Training Managers, Assistant Fitness Managers, and Personal Trainers. Manage payroll for Assistant Fitness Managers and personal trainers to ensure timely and accurate payment. Communicate goals, expectations, and procedures to other department leaders and staff members. Ensure all fitness staff have appropriate certifications such as CPR, First Aid, and personal trainer credentials. Provide constructive feedback to staff on performance, highlighting strengths and improvement areas. Maintain high‑quality customer service by addressing member concerns, managing inquiries, and resolving issues promptly. Engage with members in a friendly, approachable manner, actively listening to their needs. Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, maintaining certifications and safety protocols. Supervise the cleanliness and maintenance of the facility, including equipment, locker rooms, and common areas. Communicate calmly and clearly during emergencies or unexpected disruptions, providing necessary instructions to staff and members. Qualifications 2 years of management experience, preferably in fitness or personal training. 3–4 years of customer service experience. Personal Training sales experience highly preferred. Prior experience or strong interest in the fitness industry. Excellent verbal and written communication skills for interaction with employees, management, and vendors. Strong relationship‑building and influencing skills at all levels. Detail orientation, systematic problem solving, and good time‑management skills. Proficient use of MS Office. Alignment with core values and mission of the organization. Requirements Successful completion of a background check. CPR certification within 30 days of hire. Valid personal trainer certification. Prior sales experience required. Ability to work in a gym setting, moving around club floors and communicating with staff, members, and the public. Ability to use the company computer system – preparing documents, entering data, reading reports, and using email. Physical ability to bend routinely and lift more than 40 lbs. Compensation Eligible for variable income opportunities including commission and bonus. Post‑training salary increase.
