Travel Nurse RN - Stepdown - $2,470 per week

Travel Cardiovascular Stepdown RN

Unit Size: 22 beds
Shift: 12-hour shifts, 6:45–7:15
Schedule: Night shift or rotating days and nights
Call: None

Unit Overview

Cardiovascular Stepdown unit caring for cardiac, vascular, thoracic surgery, and post-operative cardiac patients. Travelers should be comfortable with chest tubes, epicardial pacing, telemetry-level care, and titratable cardiac drips.

Required Experience

• Recent cardiovascular stepdown, PCU, or telemetry experience
• Epicardial pacing experience
• Chest tube management
• Ability to titrate drips according to ordered parameters
• Comfortable caring for post-operative cardiac and thoracic surgery patients

Required Certifications

• BLS
• ACLS

Staffing and Support

• Charge Nurse takes a full patient assignment
• Nursing Supervisor available 24/7
• Hospitalist and Intensivist available in-house
• Respiratory Therapy available hospital-wide 24/7
• Nursing Assistant ratio is approximately 1:15
• IV Therapy team performs all IV insertions

Telemetry and Respiratory Support

• Central monitor technicians interpret and document rhythm strips
• Bedside RNs are not required to perform formal strip interpretation
• Nihon Kohden monitoring system
• No ventilated patients
• No continuous BiPAP
• CPAP and Airvo may be used

Scheduling Requirements

• Travelers participate in the holiday rotation with permanent staff
• Self-scheduling is managed through a scheduling committee
• Block scheduling may be discussed
• Rotating schedules are typically two weeks of days followed by two weeks of nights, depending on staffing needs

Dress Code

• Navy-blue scrubs
• Artificial nails are not permitted

Cancellation Policy

Facility may cancel up to 2 shifts during a 13-week contract.
