Vertical Transportation Project Engineer

Overview A Vertical Transportation Project Engineer at HNTB will plan, design, and oversee the construction of elevator, escalator, and related conveyance systems across various sectors. The role supports the Vertical Transportation Technical Lead in delivering code‑compliant designs and project tasks, working closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless integration from concept to commissioning. What You’ll Do Plan and distribute discipline‑specific work to meet project schedule and budget. Assist in marketing responsibilities, including proposal generation. Help develop scope of work and estimate level of effort for projects or assignments. Ensure completeness and accuracy of the project team’s work within the technical discipline. Guide and mentor team members toward overall project objectives. Coordinate technical aspects of the project with client counterparts and partnering teams at the staff level. Collaborate with other disciplines on multi‑discipline projects. Perform additional duties as assigned. What You’ll Need Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and 6 years of relevant experience, orMaster’s degree in Engineering and 5 years of relevant experience, orPhD in Engineering and 4 years of relevant experience. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position. What You’ll Bring Understanding of the impacts of decisions on technical design and work planning. Ability to coordinate work planning and design effectively across multiple disciplines. Preparation of high‑quality deliverables that are on time, within budget, and scope. Working knowledge of ASME A17.1 Elevator Code and applicable building codes and standards. Familiarity with elevator, escalator, and moving walk systems. What We Prefer Master’s degree in Engineering. 8 years of relevant experience. Professional Engineer (PE) certification or progress toward PE licensure. Proficiency in Revit and/or AutoCAD/MicroStation for design and documentation. Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills. Locations and Compensation NewYork,NY.
