To forward this mission to provide the best possible education experience, the Office of Student Conduct is looking for someone to serve as a Community Standards Specialist. . The Community Standards Specialist reports to the Associate Director of Student Conduct and serves as the primary case manager for assigned student conduct cases and provides coordinated support throughout the student conduct process. The position is responsible for managing cases from initial report through final resolution while balancing student advocacy, educational intervention, institutional accountability, and community standards. This position will partner with students, faculty/staff, and campus stakeholders to facilitate equitable resolution processes, promote student learning and behavioral change, and connect students with appropriate campus resources in efforts to foster students’ personal responsibility, community engagement, and student success. What you will do Case Management & Resolution: Serve as the primary case manager for anassigned caseload of individual and organizational misconduct cases;determine appropriate resolution pathways; facilitate educational conferences with individual and/or registered student organizations; draft communication through all steps of case lifecycle;assigned educational sanctions and appropriately documentcase files. Investigations: Work closely with students, faculty/staff, and internal/external stakeholders in the resolution of Code violations; develops prompt andequitableinvestigation plans,identifies, and interviews parties/witnesses,maintainsaccuraterecords, preparesreportsand catalogs necessarydata inMaxient. Student Advocacy & Support Coordination: Provide developmental support and resource navigation throughout the student conduct process, including the overview of students’ rights and responsibilities;assist students in understanding university policies; identify barriers to student success and connect students with appropriate campus resources; encourage student reflection and responsible decision-making. Campus Partnerships & Collaborative Case Management: Develop collaborative relationships that support integrated student carewith assigned functional areas within the campus community. Educational Intervention & Behavioral Development: Facilitate educational opportunities that promote learning and reduce repeat misconduct amongstudent(s) and registered student organization(s);develop individualized educational outcomes; facilitate restorative conversations and educational meetings; promoteaccountability through reflective learning andencourage development; support organizational culture change initiatives; evaluate educational effectives. Sanction Monitoring & Assessment: Monitor resolution pathways with sanction completion and contribute to continues improve efforts;maintainaccurateassessment data;identifytrends in student behavior;assistwith institutional reporting; support annual office assessment initiatives. ProfessionalService & Special Projects: Support departmental initiatives and professional development; serve on university committees;assistwith staff training; participatein policy review; present educational workshops; contribute to strategic initiatives. Administrative Duties: Collaborates with departments and agencies; manages documentation, reporting, and program effectiveness; develops goals and objectives. View full job description Required Education and Experience Bachelor's degree. 12 months in student programming, student services, or closely related experience. Equivalency/Substitution: Will accept 48 months related experience in lieu of the Bachelor's degree for a total of 60 months experience. Department Preferences Master’s Degree in higher education administration or its equivalence (Human Relations, Student Affairs, Educational Leadership, Conflict Resolution, etc.) Familiarity with electronic student conduct information management systems; Maxient preferred. Thorough knowledge of Student Affairs, Student Conduct, Student Life, and Residence Life Skills Communication & Interpersonal Skills: Exceptional ability to engage with diverse stakeholders including students, faculty, staff, parents, media and community partners. Organizational & Time Management: Skilled in managing multiple priorities, workflows, and deadlines effectively. Critical Thinking & Problem-Solving: Strong analytical skills for synthesizing complex information including State and Federal regulations and resolving sensitive issues including issues of complex and extreme political sensitivity. Leadership & Coaching: Ability to inspire, teach, and influence others; adept at conflict mediation and team supervision. Student-Centered Approach: Committed to fostering an inclusive, supportive campus environment; strong initiative to solve problems. Intercultural Competence: Understanding of campus climate and diversity. Technical & Analytical Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office; experienced in metrics, assessment, and reporting. Specialized Knowledge: Familiarity with student conduct, conflict resolution, restorative justice, and fraternity/sorority systems. Policy & Compliance: Skilled in interpreting policies and regulations; ensures adherence to state and federal guidelines. Collaboration & Partnerships: Ability to build cross-campus relationships and work effectively with interdepartmental teams; demonstrated administrative and political acumen.
