Advanced Cardiac Care Nurse

Experience the impact of advanced cardiac care in a highly collaborative and patient-focused stepdown environment. This contract position offers the opportunity to provide specialized nursing for heart, lung, and vascular patients stepping down from ICU, OR, or presenting with progressive diagnoses and complex needs. You'll work closely with interdisciplinary teams, ensuring exceptional clinical outcomes and making a meaningful difference for patients during their recovery.

Schedule:

• Night shifts
• 36 guaranteed hours per week, with option for up to 48 hours based on preference
• Every other full weekend required (Saturday and Sunday)
• Contract duration: 13 to 26 weeks

Qualifications:

• Current RN license in good standing
• Minimum 1 year recent stepdown or cardiac intermediate care experience
• Proficiency in EPIC electronic medical records is required
• ACLS and BLS certifications
• Strong communication, teamwork, and dedication to positive patient outcomes
• Able to float within scope as needed
• Flu vaccination required between November 1 and April 1 (accommodations with approval)
• Ability to wear black scrubs and comply with dress code

Responsibilities:

• Assess, monitor, and manage care for cardiac stepdown patients (ratio 1:3-4) utilizing equipment such as central lines, chest tubes, and vasoactive drips
• Complete thorough documentation and charting in EPIC
• Modify and implement patient care plans in collaboration with providers and interdisciplinary teams
• Educate patients and families on medications, treatments, discharge, and self-care
• Administer medications, perform IV therapy, and respond to emergencies
• Adhere to infection control, safety practices, and Joint Commission standards
• Participate in unit huddles, bedside shift reports, and support a culture of patient safety
