The Security Officer assigned to one of many Municipal Patrol locations in Washington, DC is responsible for providing professional security services, maintaining a safe and secure environment, monitoring access to the property, conducting routine patrols, responding to resident emergency alarms, and accurately documenting security-related activities.

The Security Officer shall remain professional, alert, courteous, and attentive while on duty and shall perform all duties in accordance with Municipal Patrol of the 7th State, LLC policies, post orders, and management directives. The Security Officer shall remain posted at the main lobby security desk when not conducting an assigned patrol or responding to an incident.

The officer shall monitor all persons entering and exiting the property and maintain awareness of activity in and around the main lobby.

The officer shall check identification cards when required and verify resident status in accordance with established property procedures.

All non-residents, visitors, guests, vendors, and other authorized persons shall be properly signed in according to property and security procedures.

The officer shall maintain a professional and courteous demeanor when interacting with residents, visitors, property management, contractors, and staff.

1. HOURLY SECURITY PATROLS

The Security Officer shall conduct a complete security patrol every hour unless actively handling an emergency, incident, or other authorized security assignment.

Hourly patrols shall include, but are not limited to:

• Floors 1 and 2
• Laundry room areas
• Restrooms
• Trash rooms and trash collection areas
• Stairwells
• Emergency exit areas
• Interior common areas
• Exterior building areas
• Parking lot

During each patrol, the officer shall check for suspicious persons or activity, unauthorized occupants, safety hazards, unsecured doors, blocked emergency exits, property damage, disturbances, and other conditions requiring security or management attention.

All patrols shall be properly documented in the Daily Security Activity Log.

1. PARKING LOT PATROLS

The Security Officer shall routinely patrol the parking lot and exterior areas of the property.

The officer shall observe for suspicious persons, unauthorized vehicles, property damage, loitering, disturbances, and other security concerns.

Any unusual or suspicious activity shall be documented and immediately reported to the appropriate supervisor or management representative when necessary.

1. RESIDENT EMERGENCY ALARM RESPONSE

The Security Officer shall promptly respond when a resident emergency alarm is activated.

Upon responding, the officer shall assess the situation and determine whether emergency medical services, law enforcement, the fire department, property management, or a security supervisor should be contacted.

Security Officers shall remain within the scope of their training and authority and shall not perform medical procedures beyond their level of certification or training.

All emergency alarm responses shall be documented in the Daily Security Activity Log and an Incident Report shall be completed when required.

1. DAILY SECURITY ACTIVITY LOG

The Security Officer is required to complete an accurate and detailed Daily Security Activity Log for the entire shift .

The Daily Log shall document:

• Beginning and ending of the officer's shift
• Hourly patrols
• Visitor and access control activity
• Emergency alarm responses
• Resident complaints
• Suspicious persons or activity
• Property or safety concerns
• Police, Fire, or EMS responses
• Management notifications
• Security incidents
• Any unusual activity occurring during the shift

All Daily Logs shall be written professionally, accurately, and submitted according to company procedures.

1. INCIDENT REPORTS

The Security Officer shall complete a detailed Incident Report whenever a significant security, safety, medical, criminal, or property-related incident occurs.

Incident Reports shall be factual, objective, complete, and submitted before the end of the officer's shift unless otherwise directed by a supervisor.

Officers shall not include personal opinions, assumptions, or unsupported conclusions in official reports.

1. RADIO AND COMMUNICATION PROCEDURES

The Security Officer shall maintain professional communication with Municipal Patrol Dispatch, supervisors, management, residents, and property management personnel.

All radio communications shall be clear, brief, professional, and in accordance with company radio procedures.

Serious incidents and emergencies shall be immediately reported through the proper chain of command.

1. PROFESSIONAL CONDUCT

Security Officers shall:

• Report to work on time and properly dressed in the approved company uniform.
• Remain alert and attentive throughout the entire shift.
• Maintain a professional appearance.
• Treat residents, visitors, staff, and management with respect.
• Follow the company chain of command.
• Remain at the assigned post until properly relieved.
• Refrain from sleeping while on duty.
• Refrain from excessive personal cell phone use.
• Not abandon the assigned security post.
• Maintain confidentiality regarding residents, incidents, and company business.
• Follow all Municipal Patrol policies, post orders, and client requirements.

1. OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED

The Security Officer shall perform other security-related duties as assigned by Municipal Patrol of the 7th State, LLC Management, the Watch Commander, Shift Supervisor, or authorized Property Management personnel , provided such duties are within the officer's lawful authority, training, and assigned security responsibilities.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

The Security Officer must:

• Be at least 18 years of age.
• Possess any required security officer license or certification.
• Be able to communicate clearly and professionally.
• Be able to write accurate Daily Logs and Incident Reports.
• Be capable of walking and conducting routine patrols.
• Be able to climb stairs and patrol multiple floors.
• Be able to stand or sit for extended periods.
• Be able to respond promptly to emergency situations.
• Demonstrate good judgment and professional conduct.
• Successfully comply with Municipal Patrol employment and training requirements.
